So it looks like Flysaa.com is now down. Is this for the computer systems update to join Star?

SAA is switching to the Amadeus CRS system overnight in South Africa. Lets hope it goes off without too many hitches. Yes,it's related to their entrance into Star Alliance next month on the 10th. Many of the Star carriers use Amadeus and more are likely to in the future. The major benefit of a common platform is interline electronic tickets and through check-in.

Read about this the other day. I wonder what the system would look like. Ethiopian and Kenya have Amadeus-driven booking engines on their sites as well, in a very obvious way (framed etc). I have always liked Air Canada's front end, as well as Lufthansa's. However, I find the inability to book *A flights on AC's site most annoying, as it only limits one to cities served by AC.

From what I understand,Amadeus is only used by AC for fares. They are in the process of preparing to move to a new platform called Athena. I have no idea if it will be based on Amadeus, then modified to suit their needs. Anyone have the inside scoop?
