What Was Delta Thinking With This Airline?

Freedom "friggin" airlines....what a pathetic operation!!!!!!

Freedom took over the MCO-DFW route from Chautauqua Air and with their ERJ aircraft this month...OMG!!!! I suggest Delta not even offer this route
or any other route with this Freedom Air.

They continue to have to make a fuel stop somewhere in route from MCO to DFW. Today, 6123 took off from MCO...diverted to PNS for fuel..usually they have been diverting to BTR....then they take off from PNS for DFW, well of course DFW is getting slammed with Severe weather...okay thats understandable...even the "mainline" flights for AA, DL and others coming to DFW diverted...but 6123 diverts to AUS...refuels...takes off for DFW for a 2nd attempt...nope...they didn't put enough fuel for possible hold time for weather at DFW...they divert again....back to AUS for more fuel...but now crew is out of time...they cancel the flight. Freedom puts the customers on a bus on I-35 up to DFW.

Freedom flight 6124....MCO-DFW....can't make the trip nonstop...they to divert to IAH...

Friday they diverted, Saturday they diverted, Sunday both flights diverted....
and the really bad part is...these stations where Freedom diverts to do not have the capabilities to dump the lavs, planes do not have a/c stairs...so if the station doesn't have a jetway or portable stairs....they are screwed!

Bottom line, Freedom Air's operation is pathetic, reliability pathetic and they are not helping Delta Air Lines with this type of service.

Delta needs to get rid of all this crap with the RJ's flying long distances with no dependability! I would never chose to fly Delta a.k.a "Connection Carrier" if there were any other airline offering a mainline aircraft!

It was a rough night at DFW and this just makes it worse!

Hey I'm not a pilot, but I am a gate agent and I do live in the Midwest, so I speak with some reliability.

As I sit here at 5AM in Kansas City, I listen to sleet falling on the windows. It's been doing it all night.

Yesterday, the wind was awesome as I worked my flights at the gate. I mean awesome in a bad way.

I do not like the RJs, or the Embrarers anymore than you do, but I can tell you we had some bad head winds yesterday causing some very difficult decisions to be made by pilots.

The weather is getting worse...generally speaking, all over the world...you need to be aware before you fly.

By the way, I'm sorry for yesterday and I mean that, if no one else told you.

DL's problems with Freedom (Mesa) are just starting, wait till they are flying the 16 or so Dash 8's in/out of JFK every day with many passengers making International connections. I feel sorry for the DL agents who will have to work these flights, good luck folks !

The pathetic thing is that Delta management cannot see these problems or decides not ignore them. Delta's reliance on RJ's and their operators is one of the reasons the airline is on the precipice of extinction.

Aren't they one of the 8 or 9 different regional airline opperators bidding against Mesaba for Northwest's regional contract right now?

In the couple of weeks that I have been working Freedom flights, I cant think of more than a couple of days where something hasnt gone wrong with one of their planes. Whether something minor like an inop apu or something bigger, like not being able to tell how much fuel is on the plane and just filling up the tanks so the crew has a good idea on fuel load, there always seems to be something wrong. Not only that, but they seem to use different ramp signals than any of the other DCI carriers. Also, when I have had to call their dispatch, there is not even a way to contact a dispatcher that is working Delta flights, I have had to just start choosing options to get to another airline's dispatcher in order to try to get transferred to a Delta dispatcher and that usually involves getting cut off at least once.
All in all, I think it was a very poor choice to go with Freedom.

I did not see the logic in this additional DCI carrier either. The expansion for JFK was good sounding, but then hearing props were in the mix somewhat disappointing.

I've never flown a Dash-8, but some say they are more comfy than a CRJ-200 series.

My big problem with Freedom beeing brought into the DCI mix is just another blur of the brand. Delta has no clear product. Just my opinion.

I have to say this, in my opinion this problem affects more than just Delta. Except for the informed traveler most travelers think that the regional is the same as the parent company that they are flying for. That is why IMHO - carriers like CO and AS are doing so well, because there regional are so closely part of the parent company, and the quality is close to the parent company.
