I filmed this in January 2005 from the BART parking garage at SFO. The wind was fairly strong this day, and the A340 seemed to hit quite hard. This is filmed in real time and is original Hi8mm video- no tricks. If you replay this, watch the wingtips shake violently and the left main gear seems to 'pogo-stick' when it hits.....the engine blast from the thrust diverters is very evident as the jet rolls out to the end, as the Pilots keep it close to the center line. The noise from the engines as the thrust diverters are in use, is very loud, usually, one can't hear the engines from here when watching aircraft land on the 19's at SFO. Enjoy.

Hmmm.

Is this really that hard of a landing? I need to watch this a few more times but I was expecting something _much_ more dramatic.

Good stable approach and landing, what on earth are you talking about?

From watching the video, I could see how it would feel like a rough landing. The left wheel touched down and then came back up and also the front of the plane, once landed, seems to skew to the right slightly, which may or may not have been noticed by the passengers. Great video to watch, thanks for the audio too!

Hard landing? Not hardly.

Tower called the wind 100 degrees at 15 kts. A 90 degree crosswind, but not very strong (and very common with 19 landings).

Looks like a bit of a bounce but nothing to write home about.

I have seen much worse landings. That was pretty normal.

here I was expecting something spectacular; instead we see a basically normal landing. I was expecting extreme bouncing all the way down the runway; but it looks like the pilot came in dead center and pulled off the runway halfway down.

Great AF landing  thumbsup

What's the fuzz about? There obviously was some crosswind and the plane was put down almost perfectly on centerline. Normal landing. Nothing to be worried about. The wingtips always shake, just look up the wingspan of an A340. It is a notch more than on a CRJ or so. These things are designed to shake.
