Read in a Dulles bulletin that USAirways has filed a complaint with the DOT about UAL's predatory pricing at Dulles. US says that UAL has matched flights that US operates as MetroJet.
EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!!THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY WRONG HERE!!!!!!!
1) Because of MetroJet, AirTran was forced to close the Dulles hub that has been in operation(as ValuJet) since 1995. UAL really wasn't a threat to AirTran. R.I.P. AirTran Dulles hub.
2)US better shut up before Midway accuses them of predatory pricing in the North Carolina region. According to Midway, Southwest isn't a threat to Midway, but it is MetroJet that is putting the extra weight on JI at RDU.
3)United is only fighting to keep its Dulles hub alive. If Dulles fails for US(and I hope it does), there is always National and of course the one and only Baltimore. Geez, USAirways is a greedy airline!

Due to deregulation, airlines can pretty much do whatever they want in the price range.
Speaking of being "predatory," I read that back in the 1960s, PanAm told Boeing & Douglas that if they sold the 707 or DC8 to Transocean, a CA-HI operator, then they (PA) wouldn't buy anymore of their jets. Transocean folded as a result, since they operated 377s and Constellations.

Oh come on!!! US Airways is so inbread anyway...with their hubs so close together!! "Hey...let's be a really smart airline, and have hubs at THREE Washington D.C. locations!" US Airways should have expected it when they first started to move into UA's IAD territory...they should stick to BWI and DCA where they belong! No competition there!

These guys(US) literally set up an airline to compete primarily against Southwest. are they serious! They try to move in and become more competitive against UA at Dulles and when they get resultes that they do not like they run and cry on the shoulder of the feds like some kind of one plane operation based out of west nowhere, not like the airline that dominates at least one airport serving the three lagrest cities in the east. c'mon, They woke the sleeping giant (as I predicted in a post a while back) and now they want the federal gov't to stifle UA's expansion plans so they can grow there.

Hey first class
Where is your proof ? I have not seen anything in the news other than America at DFW and Airtran at Atl. I would not worry too much because Wolf will run United out of Dulles !!! He does'nt need the help from the GOV.

--Is Wolf even there anymore? I thought his fellow ex-UAer Rakeesh Gangwhal (something like that) has taken over.
--US Airways will NEVER take UA's place at IAD...let's see...almost all of UA's Atlantic flights depart from there, including some Carrib. flights, and now, what is it...about 100 daily flights operated by United, in addition to the 231 daily flights that United Express operates? I sure don't think so! UA is so much bigger than US Airways...Metrojet is not that big of a threat...old planes....no service...all economy.

Hey Eastern! Here's your proof! This wasn't the Dulles bulletin I found (a news article rather).

USAirways blasts United's push at Dulles hub
CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 19 (Reuters) - USAirways Group Chairman Stephen Wolf on
Wednesday said UAL Corp's United Airlines is trying to force its smaller rival out of Dulles
International Airport in the Washington, D.C., suburbs.
Wolf, responding to a question during the company's annual meeting, said a push by United
to increase hub operations at Dulles by 60 percent has led to a 200 percent increase in
capacity in routes USAirways serves from the airport.
``There's no economic justification for that, except they intend to drive us out of the market,'' he said.
Wolf's comments came amid growing industry concerns over an antitrust lawsuit alleging American Airlines used predatory
pricing to force rivals out of its hub Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
American, a unit of Fort Worth-based AMR Corp (NYSE:AMR - news) has denied the charges.
United on May 5 said it had boosted its hourly service between Dulles and New York's Laguardia Airport to 16 daily flights
from 11 in February as part of a push to increase hub operations at Dulles by 60 percent.
A spokesman for Chicago-based United said the airline, the nation's largest, is focused on expanding its East Coast operations.
Dulles is United's gateway airport to Europe, and a feeder airline, Atlantic Coast, is based there.
``What we're trying to do is strengthen our presence in the East Coast, and the logical way to do that is add flights at Dulles,''
spokesman Joe Hopkins said.
Located in the rolling Virginia hills outside Washington, Dulles has become increasingly attractive, generating increased business
travel due to a boom in high technology companies. Dulles is home to America Online (NYSE:AOL - news), among others.

I think USAirways putting the blame on driving smaller carriers out of IAD(AirTran) on United is a bunch of bullcrap. As I stated in my first post, United and AirTran went okay at Dulles.
One more thing Eastern, it should be USAirways that should be worried at Dulles! Dulles is a mega-hub for United and they will drop a 500 ton weight on USAirways and MetroJet at Dulles if they continue to compete there.
