Attended a conference of Rolls-Royce last week and discussing some aspects of maintenance, it was mentioned that VS engineering has become one of the best maintenance groups in the world close to the same level as Lufthansa and Air France Technics. They said that more and more airlines are for their service at outsations where they operate. This is really good I think...What is you opinion? has anyone ever dealt with VS engineering staff?

Well it's not suprising, VS prides itself on being a quality carrier in all aspects of it's operation. Not only that, being a UK carrier their maintenance practices has to be top quality. Did RR say anything about British Airways engineering? It's world reknowned for it's excellence in the aviation industry too, up there with LH Technics etc..

They never mentioned anything about BA engineering I guess since they have been having some issues last year with their maintenance like a couple of engine shutdowns in flight or others and the massive layoffs of engineers in the States in the other hand I hear VS has been beefing up their Engineering team across the US and UK as well.

From memory the previously excellent British Airways Engine Overhaull unit located at Treforest in Wales was handed over to General Electric as part of the deal that GE engines were supplied with BA's initial 777 aircraft.
Subsequently there were some horrendous stories emanating from the unit - some of which reached the media, but there were are number which did not!
