Could Ensenada (ESE) Support Cessna402 Operation?

I went down to Baja recently and noticed the Ensenada Airport (ESE) which apparently has Migracion services (FIS). My question deals with 9-seat Cessna operations primarily to San Diego. Could a Cessna 402 find a market for SAN-ESE services for the ex-pats that have housing down there or is the distance too short (drive market too strong)?

I figured it would be easier than the toll and police hassles sometimes people get on the drive to ESE. A major plus would be the benefit of not having to wait at San Ysidro for re-entry to the US. Of course you would have to find your wheels once down in Ensenada.

What would be the season of operation and frequencies per day if feasible?

how far of a drive is it? Be taking a cruise out of ESE next month and flying into SAN...

It is about 70 miles from SAN, southbound is not much of a wait at the border, however northbound can be problematic. It takes about 1H20 - 1H30 southbound.

Speaking of charters, there are some cruise ships which end their cruises at ESE and then they bus up the pax to SAN.

What about turbo-prop flights from LAX and ONT to Tijuana, and connect there to other parts of Mexico. There are thousands of people who drive to Tijuana for a cheaper flight. You can save between $150 to $200 by driving to TIJ, instead of flying out of LAX....

Its a positioning flight only. It is only scheduled when the flight needs to leave TIJ the next day and current schedule I guess doesn't require repositioning.

Recently, when flight operated, it was often once a month, not even once a week.

Thanks - we're on the cruise that leaves ESE and returns from HNL. Sure wish PVD had a nonstop to SAN...
