A crew base anyway. BOS is already a B6 focus city, I doubt if many connections will be offered out of BOS unless B6 heads to Europe or maritime Canada from there.

I see the topic title has been changed from "hub" to "home base", good...as you can see the a-net nit-pickers (myself included) had begun the avalanche of corrective comments.

Now, great news for B6 and BOS.

Bad Headline,
A Crew base does not make a city a hub.

A hub is where people make connections between flights. Boston is not that for Jet Blue. It is an O&D site.

Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

Sorry to be picky - but a "hub" is usually perceived as differnat than a crew base. At least for me, I consider a hub to be a connecting point and there will be no connecting opportunities for B6 in BOS that I know of...

Either way - good for BOS.

Huge difference between crew base and hub. One does not mean the other. Nice to see Boston get a crew base. Having to shuffle in crew from the Miami/Lauderdale, New York, and LA/Long Beach bases can often be difficult and lead to delays.

BOS has been in the works for some time. I believe that the crew lounge is already complete up there. We have so many flights out of there now that the company is having to shuttle reserves up there to sit at the airport incase somebody gets sick or hurt. I'm thinking about transfering up there, but I just don't know if I want to do it right away.

I know there was talk (but not sure if serious talk or conjecture) of JetBlue taking over DL's lease at terminal A. But lots would have to happen for that to take place!

DL would have to drop dead for that to happen.

Not to mention that paying for a few dozen hotel rooms each night for crews also starts to add up.

I believe that we currently have 3 hotels in Boston that we use. So your right. I believe that on average we have 4 or 5 crews overnighting in BOS at a time.

How much seniority must you have to bid on your location as a pilot? is it fair to say that 60% or more crew are based at the airline's hub?

Anybody can apply to transfer to the new crew base. I think we are starting with 150 crews there. Since the bid transfer isn't up yet nobody knows who is going to go. So it may be a junior base and it may be a senior base.
