Alright, so I did a search to find the answers, and there are way too many postings on them. So, I just wanted to find out more about them.

How are they doing financially?
How many more aircraft on order?
Growth plan?
Are they going to keep flying just MD's or are they looking at others?
Where are the corporate offices, and who is running the show?
What is it like to work for them? I noticed an opportunity, and wanted some feedback from current employees.
How are the flight benefits, and how are the benefits?
What do they pay their flight attendants and ground crews?

I am growing fond of this airline, and very curious about what they are about.

Most importantly, how does one get on one of their Las Vegas junket charters? LOL! I have looked everywhere, and can't find it!

Thanks ahead of time FATFLYER and ATCRICK.  Smile

Greetings Sir,

And thank you for the questions. Unfortunately, I can not comment on the business plan as that is way above my pay grade.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

You dont....Our charter customers are paying for the airlines and do not authorize non-revs.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

Flight benefits are standard as are the medical and dental bennies...although the dental bennies have alot to be desired. $1000 bucks a year can be taken up with one bad tooth.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

Mad Dogs are doing us well and are great aircraft. Just ask American.. No future new aircraft types in the near future. As far as I know.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

Corporate offices in North Las Vegas. Mr Gallagher runs the whole shebang with a very talented senior staff.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

Its nice to work with them although you can't please everybody. BUT, having said that, G4 CARES about their employees.

Sorry I can't help you with pay scales. Not my department. You would be welcome in the Allegiant team should you fit in.

I hope this helps,

ATC Rick

Thanks ATCRick!

As for the charter customers, how would I go about finding one? I am interested in flying on one. I would pay to go of course. I just heard they have some great deals on them.

Who is Mr. Gallagher? What is his history? Does he have prior airline ownership background?

Totally understand. I was really wanting to find out what they pay their flight attendants. Any idea on how many hours they work a week? I noticed they were hiring, and that might mean either Allegiant is growing, or they have some turnover. It caught my eye, and is something I might be interested in pursuing.

Thanks again!

Maury Gallagher has a TON of experience. IIRC he had a hand in forming notables like Atlantic Southeast and ValuJet. He's good at what he does.

Quoting F9Animal (Reply 2):

You bet (I have a family connection to that very thing)! They're in the new Flynn-Gallagher Corporate Center (nope, the name's no coincidence--Tim Flynn and Maury G have a long, long business history) in northwest Las Vegas.

My cousin really, really enjoys what she does for G4 and takes a LOT of personal pride in the company. She's been a successful businesswoman for as long as I remember, but she really seems to love her gig at G4 the best.

Profitable for something like 12 straight quarters now.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

They just keep looking for MDs at a good price and in good condition. Growth, well there are an awful lot of second tier airports out there with no flights to LAS or Orlando. So who knows how many markets they can find.

Quoting F9Animal (Reply 2):

Definitely because they are growning. I don't know the current scales or hours since I'm on the outside. But I have heard from flight crews that they like the fact that the scheduled routes return to LAS, so no overnights at a hotel.

Quoting F9Animal (Reply 4):
Is he the primary investor, or is there money coming from an unknown source?

The company was originally founded by Mitch Allee, who had made money in software. They operated a few different routes in the "traditional" airline mode, getting up to 4 DC-9 aircraft. They operated at FAT, RNO, LAS, PDX, and a others and made attempts to build markets at LGB and Lake Tahoe. But a run up of fuel prices in 2000 (it went from about 80 cents to $1.15/gallon for av fuel in one year) pushed them into bankruptcy.

Gallagher invested about $5 million and brought it out of BK in 2001. There was a private placement of investors last year that brought in $40 million.

Quoting F9Animal (Reply 2):

Quoting JBirdAV8r (Reply 3):
IIRC he had a hand in forming notables like Atlantic Southeast and ValuJet.

Gallagher started with about 25% ownership of WestAir. Flynn was the other owner. They then went on to start ASA which they later sold, then ValuJet.

Besides Allegiant, Maury has made investments in a number of high-tech companies through his investment company.

Quoting JBirdAV8r (Reply 3):
They're in the new Flynn-Gallagher Corporate Center (nope, the name's no coincidence--Tim Flynn and Maury G have a long, long business history)

Tim and Maury sold the Flynn/Gallagher complex last year for $77 million, timed to sell near a market peak.

Quoting F9Animal (Thread starter):

If you want to go to Vegas you can always just book on one of the scheduled flights on the website. If you want to try the charter service as Rick said they are handled by the customer. But if you want to book one just check around, for example info on the charters for Harrahs to Reno and Laughlin can be found here:

http://www.harrahs.com/our_casinos/r.../plan_your_trip/reno_charters.html

Just a hunch, but I think Allegiant is starting service to Roanoke, Va. (ROA). A brief in the paper said the airport would be announcing new service Tuesday that's not a major carrier nor major discount carrier, but one that serves markets a few days a week. I'm thinking ROA-Orlando.

I know this is a little off topic but ATCRick - Why did flight 487 air return to TOL this evening? I heard it was a gear problem but have heard nothing since.

On another note, Allegiant seems to be doing really well here in TOL.

Passengers on 4,724 84.7% load factor
Passengers off 4,361 78.2% load factor
Total Pax 9,085

(for February)

I have said some bad things about Valujet, but they were certainly one of my most missed airlines. The critter will always be in my heart. That airline was set for an amazing ride. Airtran can thank the old critter for todays success.

I really hope Allegiant turns the heads of the non believers. I know they turned my head. I did have a bad experience with them, but I can blame the CSA's at Delta in Seattle for that one.

I flew into Vegas about a month ago, and it was awesome to see those sweet mad dogs shining in the sun. I remember Allegiant when the had the old DC-9 series 10. I saw their first flight into Vegas around 1995 or so. What a change that airline has made in about 10 years.

GO ALLEGIANT!

BTW- Thanks for the info FATFlyer and ATCRick. Welcome to the RU list.

the DC-9-21 that Allegiant used was one of the nicest planes I have ever flown on. When they announced their FAT-LAS-TVL-BUR-TVL-LAS-FAT service some 5 or 6 years ago during the summer, I quickly booked a LAS-TVL leg the beginning of August. I think I paid $59 and was one of 7 pax on the a/c, and it was one of the most clean and nicest looking planes on the inside. Considering its age, it was obvious that the airline spent quite a bit of money to retro it and clean it up. Too bad the TVL service wasn't a bigger hit, it could have been but I think two airlines fighting for pax service was just too much that summer.

I used to work G4 charter flights with DGS too. They've got a really nice strategy of flying to underserved Midwest markets. Always great to see a gouging airline like NW have problems with a simple LCC.

$1000 a year is the standard dental plan in the U.S..
Consider getting AFLAC....about $30.00 a month for an additional $1200 a year. (Single person)

Shameless plug is now over. You may now return to regularly scheduled programming.

It would've been Sunday the 26th. They ferried another plane out here at like 3am and left with the passengers at 8am this morning for LAS. I heard it was a Gear Caution light. If it was that...do they have to do gear swings then?

Here's where they ferried it to...anyone know this airport?

Flyinryan,

Appears it went to VQQ/Cecil Field, Jacksonville, FL. Doing a search of NZC/KNZC on airnav led me to there both times. Believe NZC was the former code for Cecil when it was active. Judging by the flight number, I'd venture a guess that it was N875GA?
