KLM started flying BLL-AMS with own metal today (3x daily F100 service)
On the BLL airport homepage http://bll.dk/Home/Forside.aspx?lang=da the plane operating the flight is shown. As it can be seen from the pictures the plane was named City of Billund, does anyone know if this a permanent name or just for today?

That's just for the occasion, the Fokkers don't have names. Nice to have Cityhopper operating the route and who knows it will evolve to a B737 if traffic supports it. DM used it, but twice a day. Lots of connections to MP in AMS.

During june 1992 KLM Cithopper F50's (and SF340's) got names from European cities. E.g. PH-KVA - Bremen, PH-KVB - Brussel, PH-KVK - London. Also named on F50's were the cities of Bordeaux, Amsterdam and Stavanger.

Unfortunately the former KLM F100s didn't retain the names they had when flying for KLM. As said, like all other Fokkers flying for KLM Cityhopper (UK) they are unnamed. Only 4 of these F100s were registered to the former Dutch registration they had when they flew for KLM: PH-KLD, PH-KLE, PH-KLG and PH-KLI. The other 2 F100s are now flying with other airlines.
Only the a/c flying for KLM (Boeing, Airbus and MD) are named.

Maersk Air served that route for many years, the last several years in code share with KLM.
Last year Sterling took over Maersk Air. And now Sterling has discontinued the route.
So the service hasn't really changed, it has only been taken over by another airline.
The BLL-AMS route has always mainly been a feeder route for the western half of Denmark into the KLM overseas network. It has gained quite some polularity since SAS has been shrinking its overseas network during the last 10-15 years.
I just wonder what is happening at Sterling. Since last year as they were taken over by an Icelandic money tank they have lost their traditional contract with Air Tours - losing full time work for three 738s. And now the BLL-AMS route.
Anyone out there who wants to buy a handful of used 73Gs / 738s?
