Hi, I'm flying EMA-IBZ in the summer with Thomas Cook. I know that for Winter 06/07 Thomas Cook are upgrading East Midlands from an A320 base to a 757.

However, seeing as TCX have just disposed of an A320 to Condor, and are replacing this with a FCA 757 in time for summer, does anyone know if there is a chance EMA will be a 757 for Summer 06 season as well, or is it definately A320 until October?

Thanks

Whilst on the subject of TCX at EMA; who helps dispatch these aircraft as Thomas Cook don't have an ASR at EMA do they?

Mark (soon to be asr at bhx!)

Not sure, guess they just leave it all down to the handling agent?

JMC757 - According to LTS (Thomas Cook Tour Operation's reservation system), the route is still down for a B757 for the whole season. However, Ops have been busy with consolidation of flights to Turkey, so there's still a chance of a switch or added flights, if demand requires it. The flights are well booked for the Summer, so you never know!

Thomas Cook only employ their own staff at LGW and MAN, and even then, I'm not sure if that extends beyond PSA's. So for BHX, it will definately be their appointed handling agents.

So East Midlands is a Thomas Cook B757 base for Summer 2006 then? Or is it just this particular flight?

It was Menzies last Summer, and still could be. I'll find out.

Cheers,
Cosmic

Thanks for that - so it seems EMA is going to be 757 for the summer as well. Was hoping for the 757 over the A320, haven't been on one for a while!

Thomas Cook employ their own staff at more airports than MAN/LGW. Birmingham have their own Thomas Cook customer service representatives. I'm not really sure what their role is though - think its more for the passengers, especially when things go t*ts up. At BHX Aviance do check-in, load-planning, baggage, boarding and dispatch - in my experience the TCX staff were often more of a hinderance than a help!
