Guess what?
A Volar would like to fly to Nogales, Tehuacán and Chilpancingo using a/c for 140 pax. El Norte informs that Fabricio Coujoc, A Volar CEO, has just said that had not been for lack of infraesctructure they would be flying to these cities:
"Hay aeropuertos adonde nos gustaría llegar pero las pistas o las terminales no dan, como es el caso de Nogales, Tehuacán, Chilpancingo, donde nos gustaría operar con aviones de 140 pasajeros pero no se puede y va a tardar un tiempo para llegar".
I am not sure wheter he is being sarcastic or really showing likely destinations of A Volar.
None of these destinations has current air services, nor had had in the last 20 years. All three are small cities close to another major aiport (all but Nogales). So I do not see the point of bringing a 737 to these airports.
I have always thought Nogales could be served by Aerolitoral from Hermosillo (it is a long way by road) and using smaller a/c. But Tehuacán (one hour away from PBC) and Chilpancingo 90min away from ACA seem to be more a kind of joke...
Anyway, if anyone think different or can/want to explain what Coujoc really meant, please do it... this is the thread.

Agree.
Reminds me of a Continental Express article two years ago. It said that if Mexico has a runway long enough for an ERJ to land, they would add it to their network.

And the saddest is, that they are succeding at it! How many cities are served by Conti Express in Mexico? Boy, I hear them on the radio all the time!
Fortunately Mexico's aviation has awaken; keeping the pace it had up until one year ago would have turned COEx or AEagle our flag carriers.

I don't think they're smoking. Nogales and Tehuacán might be an option but certainly not Chilpancingo.
Lets see how they do with their new destinations, routes and fleet which will be composed by 4 frames by mid April. By July they say they might have 7, sure sometime in June we will see thru it's site the new routes!
Have anyone tried A5 yet?
