Anyone have an update on the A320 that ran into the jetway at MCO Tuesday morning? I saw the damage.. Looked kinda bad. Damage to the Lt wing leading edge and possibly the #1 motor.

It appears it was a reposition from overnight parking. Not sure if it was a tow job or being taxied by MX.

It happened around 7:20am local, 3/28/06...

Thanks for the update... Glad the damage didn't involve the engine and its good to see they could ferry it out pretty fast.

I was just getting off work at MCO (I work at Airside 2) when the incident happened. Didn't get too close to the scene so couldn't tell the extent from where I was located.

I believe we just had to replace the slat on this one.

These birds are really starting to piss me off.  gnasher
I just cannot believe how many bird strikes are taking place lately.

I thought we hit one when we where coming it and we where an hour behind the flight that did hit one. I started to notice them when I was standing on the rear airstairs waiting to board. There sure are alot of those birds around.

Obviously, like the AA A300 that hit the hanger this is Airbus' fault.  Wink

Anyone with photos?
Has this impacted B6 operations much?

Nah, the slat was replaced and the a/c is flying. The a/c was in the hangar for a short time while the slat was expedited from the business partner and the proper tooling was brought in.

There is a reason birdstrike survivability is such an important part of aircraft design.

Somewhere I read "between men and their aircarft and birds, history has shown that the birds win after minor casualties." While not quite 100% true, its asking for trouble to build airports near major bird zones. (e.g., why the poor Candian Geese near LGA were "eliminated.")
