Olympic Airways A340 Seat Configuration Question

The Olympic Airways website doesn’t have seating maps. My seat is 15th row. Is that in front of the wing or over the wing?
Some aircraft have a ‘wall’ seat like on the United 777 even though it’s considered a window seat. Also, what aisle does coach start at?
The reservation agents in New York and Miami don’t know these questions and get irritated when asked.

Hey,

Not sure whether row 15 is a "wall" seat or not but when I flew on the A340 I was in 10A and this was my view so row 15 would be pretty much over the wing. If I remember rightly i was a couple down from the door so I think economy starts about row 7 or 8. The OA340's have ok legroom in economy and individual PTVs for everyone. Hope this helps?

Nick

Row #15 is directly over the wing.

Economy Class starts with row #7, directly behind doors 2.

The information above are from a seatmap in the Olympic Airways timetable from Summer 2001. I don't know if they are still correct, maybe Olympic changed the seat layout in the meantime.

That is an amazing shot you have there!  Wow!

When I was on hold waiting to speak to a rep, the recording mentioned business class. If the current OA A340 has business class too, wouldn't coach start even further back from row #7?

No, Biz Class was #1-6 (the part from doors 1 to doors 2) and coach started with row #7. OA has no First Class and a rather small Business Class, thus is Eco starting at #7 already.

Thanks for pointing that out.
Looks like I'll have to change my seat.

It's cool that Olympic still uses the old carbon-copy paper tickets with red ink. That will be one of my souvioners from this trip.

Oh no, I hate these tickets since I worked in the revenue accounting department of an airline, they always made your fingers read.  Wink

Here's a map from OA's website (not accessible via website, only with google). It will give you a good idea in case you wanna change your assigned seat.

I do not remember what rows do not have windows. IIRC it was around row 10-12.

Forgive me for my ignorance... In OA's present state, do they have a real need for an a/c as large as the A340?

I have mostly flown on the A340 for ATH-LHR-ATH and most of the times the flight was full. I am not sure if they actually need four of them since they stopped flying BKK-SYD/MEL.
