You could always ask to board a 747 while it is sitting at the gate.

Hi-

Can you really do this in the United States of America or on a USA airline? That would be cool! Have you ever done it befoe? I would think that the person at the gate would not because of safety precautions and stoaways... what about CUSTOMS??

Sounds cool, have to try it!

I don't really think you could do that, for sure not in Europe.
In the US as well I have often asked to board a plane early to have a look around but I was never allowed to do so.
Anyhow, good luck.

I have asked many times to board aircraft while at the gate to look around and have gotten on many many times. For instance, just last wednesday I got on a Delta MD-88 at Colorado Springs Mun for about 10mins, got to sit in the cockpit, talk to the pilots, look around the cabin, etc. You just have to make sure you ask the right way.
