It is official!
Regions Air, the American Connection, is expanding its current structure to start service from the Cleveland-Hopkins Intl Airport to Parkersburg, Morgantown, and Clarksburg West Virginia on behalf of Continental Connection. Regions will be operating two Saab 340's which they have just purchased (not sure from whom, but I will find out). Service is rumored to start in the mid-may time frame.

I cant wait to see more Saab 340's in the Continental livery!!!

Considering you'll be flying in them!  Wink

But seriously, I can't help but wonder why and how it took MGW and all the other small markets in WV all this time to catch on to larger aircraft. I mean, MGW, in particular, is a college town. People come there from all over the world and the best flights they can get are from PIT and DCA (pre 9/11)?! Come on! But then, US didn't really have a direction for the last five years anyway. It's so far removed from "The big airline with the hometown touch" of the late 70s it's pathetic. Oh well, CO can more than take care of WV passengers.

USPIT10L: Agreed. The problem with Pittsburgh service was they were like "Why fly it, I can drive it." Now with CLE, it's more of an incentive to fly it, especially as PIT service falls more and more.

ATCT: If you have any contact with marketing at Regions...

I HIGHLY recommend you talk someone into taking an ad out in the Herald Standard newspaper of Uniontown, PA (right over the border from MGW). When I'd fly through MGW, half the people I'd talk to in Uniontown would be like "You can catch a real flight from Morgantown?!?!" Even though it's like 25 minutes away.

If I had a wish it would be that no more SF34's ever surface again in a CO paint scheme and those that already are get repainted in some other scheme.

Sure miss the SkyWest E120's flying as a CO Connection from IAH, airplane sure performed better in the sky.

Why doesn't CO say so? The US schedule already shows the flights to the three West Va. cities ending after April 30; but CO's remains blank.

There must be some uncertainty in the minds of CO's marketing folks, although lately they don't spend much time publicizing new CLE service even when there IS some.

They just hired a batch of F/As, ATCT being one of them. Apart from a press release that's pretty convincing to me. And refering to their website, it's nearly a year out of date.

Well we head to traning in two weeks...Dont know why we'd be going to training if it wasnt official. Anywho keep your eye out for for Press Releases in the next week-two weeks from the local airports.

Regarding Uniontown, yea definitely I'll let marketing know about the paper. I'll also pass on info to the Washington-Almanac. Why drive 45 mins to PIT when you could park for free @ MGW for only a 45 minute drive. Not too shabby!

Some, not a lot. They started up JAX and DAB this winter without announcement. They added a flight each to DCA, IND, AND BUF without anouncement. The only thing that was semi-announced (buried in a larger artice) was the comment that CLE-MSY operates as before the hurricane, which isn't exactly true. One flight a day operates; the second isn't scheduled until September.

The Saab looks much better in CO colors than the dark blue US colors, and that horrendous "Colgan Air" generic red white and blue livery. The new US colors on a Saab look nice though, saw one landing on 31 @ ABE while sitting in traffic on 22 a few days ago.

I also think that the Saab looks wonderful in the Northwest colors (both new and old). I always loved taking my Saab trips on NW from CAK. I guess Im one of the few that will take a Saab over a CRJ-200.

The Saab looks alot better in Co colors then the Beech1900 that CommuteAir operates in the US Airways colors.

Agreed. I meant the brand new post-HP US livery looks great. That old dark blue and gray stuff makes those little planes look horrible... even if it does say "Continental Connection" up top now.

If you get up close enough you can still see the US Airways letters on the airplane.

It's smart for Commutair, though. Why repaint them if they might be flying for someone else next year?

25 Tornado82: No doubt it was smart not to repaint... but does that contract expire next year?
26 N766UA: I don't think so, I was just kinda tossing out a time as an example.
27 USXguy: doesn't mean it rings to anyone whose job is solely to do sales & marketing.
28 Post contains images N766UA: Then don't call the number...
29 Tornado82: Regions and CO both need to get off their collective asses and get these flights loaded into ticketing. Especially if the start-up day is within like
30 Joeman: Yes, it doesn't involve IAH or EWR.
31 WesternA318: May I ask what is a Lumber Classic?
32 Post contains links and images Tornado82: Heh... sorry for the confusion. It's the corporate-sponsored name (the 84 Lumber chain of stores) for a PGA golf tournament in Mid-September. Brings
33 MajorNelson: You would.
34 WesternA318: LMAO, unless they wear plaid boxers! LOL, Thanks for the clarification
35 Post contains images Steeler83: I am sure if I were a golfer there, or anywhere for that matter, I'd wish there were lumberjacks. How else would I get out of the woods? FORE!!!
36 FCYTravis: Commutair doesn't operate anything for US Airways Express.
37 Post contains images Xjramper: Being 6'6", i will take a Saab over a CR1/2 any day. Either getting seat (in XJ configuration) 1C or 6A. But I am glad that CO is incorporating Saabs
38 Post contains links MasseyBrown: DOT has extended the incumbent until May 19th or until the commencement of Regions service, whichever comes first. I guess Regions didn't have everyth
39 Joeman: For CO at CLE too
