Highly sad , ET has changed their cs.Imagine a 747 painted in the so wonderful old ET cs !!!! A dream !!!!!Probably it should have been the most beautiful looking 747 , with the not taken up Libyans.

Quoting LouA340 (Reply 4): Do you think the much rumoured ADD-ACC-USA flight will be introduced with it?
Most likely to be deployed on LOS/BKK/China routes, as ET needs additional freight capacity on these. This one has been rumoured for a while now, and indicated ex-MH 744-combis as being what ET was after.

There are no MH 744 combis in its current fleet. They got rid of them in the early-2000s. The two aircraft in question have been sitting in MZJ for a few years.

Nice news! And we will soon have a new (temporary) 744 operator in Africa, nice
I am surprised ET is taking the 744 as a temporary solution for their newly ordered 787, isn't that a bit too much of a capacity increase coming from only two aircraft? Isn't it difficult to plan two aircraft which will later be replaced by five aircraft (5 787s)?
In any way, I am glad to see the 744 wearing another airline livery and good luck to ET of course

Will ET be convering these B 744s of MAS into Combis or will they use them as an all pax version aircraft?
They would make more money of them if flying in a Combi version...its worth the initial investment in converting it into one as it will come in handy on the FRA, China, BKK, DXB, LOS, JNB and LHR route.

You are so right, another boring paint job, their old scheme would have been magnificent!

Here we are!!!! ADD-YYZ not with 744, but A380. Yes, this thread going on about YYZ getting ready for the Whale in Jan 2007, and people wondering who will fly the Whale into YYZ...

Wow, I never expected that. Being a long time Ethiopian fan (just look at my username), this is great news, almost better than them getting their 5 787s. I think they need the capactity, their current 757 and 767 isn't quite big enough probably, especially for Cargo. In ADD their working on a cargo terminal, so I wouldn't be suprised if cargo played a big role in the decision. Maybe we'll see a 747 is AMS with flowers (jk).

So whats the numbers now in terms of their fleet. Must be bigger than Kenyan Airways. The only ones that I can think of that would be bigger would South African and Egypt Air

Why lease 744's and not 767-300 ERs...after all the seem to correspond more to the size of their future 787

Surprise, surprise. Who have Ethiopian on their list? Seems strange that they´ll go for jumbos while waiting for the much smaller 787. But who knows, if they have routes that can fill 747s and that really make money, then maybe in the future they even go for a few 747-8Is, especially as technically seen they would go very well along with the 787.
I agree that with the bulk of the 747 in mind the old livery would have been nicer to look at.

Yes, they were parked in 1/2003, but they were sold just very recently, in the last 2 or 3 weeks. I only don´t have in my mind right now to whom.
PTV's in all classes of MH's 744's with a 34" seat pitch in economy! Go Ethipoian, I have to say I did not see this one coming. What long-haul routes do they currently fly?

Interesting they took 744's...
I doubt they would have taken 767's but I could have maybe seen a T7 in their somewhere ?
Are leased/used 777's hard to come by ? I think ET are on the road to great things....
