AeroMexico 777 Seat-Map - Only 224 Seats In Coach!

Posted (8 years 6 months 2 hours ago) and read 22364 times:

I purchased an online ticket MEX-MAD AM001 for Apr. 7th and after selecting the seat, I noticed only 224 seats in coach:

I assumed that they were 226 seats as AeroMéxico announced previously:

The B777-200 ER specially configured for Aeromexico will carry a total of 275 passengers: 49 in the airline's distinguished Clase Premier and 226 in tourist class.

Are those missing seats assigned to crew members?

BTW, check the plane is almost full, MEX-MAD is certainly one of the most important routes form AM!

They probably are. Seems to me like a reasonable assumption.

Indeed! The flight's load factor is really high! I feel very happy for AM! Of course this is probably because of the Easter holidays, but still great news.

Have a great flight tomorrow Francisco! Hopefully you will find the time to write a trip report after you come back!

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

Yes, out from the 226, 2 are assigned for the f/a's crews and 1 in Clase Premier for pilots. Last monday during the inaugural flights to CDG as AM005 flight was oversold with 306 reservations... only for a 272 configuration plane, more over, guess what??? With the temperatures we've have had during the week, the plane was RESTRICTED with 10 seats... so imagine the nightmare that was! 44 pax at the end had to stayed in MEX and see if they had a chance to fly AF later.

What I don't understand is how in the world will AM keep all it's frequencies with 2 B767s less in fleet and a new 2 weekly service to Japan starting July 1st of 2006!!!! I feel like AM will reduce its frequencies to Europe again....

Really? I thought there were not going to be any issues for the 772ER to make it non-stop fully-loaded to Europe even with high temperatures. This is not so good! The departure time of AM0005 is right at the warmest time of the day and May will be quite hotter than now.

I agree. Unless AM receives not just the second triple-seven but a third and even a fourth, it seems that the reduction of flights to Europe and/or South America is certain.

Yes. It isn't as bad as the B767s but AM will still have problems some days in some months of the year because of temperature issues with AM005.... AM001 won't have any problems.

I see it very hard to happen soon. Despite Boeing's boost in production and delivieries by a 40% this year during the 1Q compared with 2005, I'm afraid all 777 slots for 2005 are almost all assigned. They say if the 3rd is confirmed soon, it might be arriving by November or early December., also if this happens we should by NOW have news of that... but instead we first have this crazy and hopefully very succesful new venture into Japan  Smile.

The only chance to increase AM's 777 fleet is taking the original RG/ILFC planes if they go bankrupt, which are PP-VRA and BRB powered with GE90-94B engines. The rest of the 6 frames don't work for AM.

Quoting DeltaMIA (Reply 7):

Well, they had 310 reservations, 306 showed up. The crew minutes before the flight at the briefing room was adviced of this "problem", I also spoke with a crew member today of his experience during the first MEX-CDG cross in the 777.

I'm assuming you meant 2006.  Wink And make that ALL slots are assigned. Add January 2007, too. If AM confirmed today, the earliest they could get a new bird is Feb. '07 (actually, if they had confirmed a month ago. I can't attest to what has happened in the last month).

Hey Hamlet69!

Yes! Sorry, I meant 2006! What a shame we will not see this year another frame of the most wanted 777! The more they take the worse for AM! Still, if RG goes bankrupt, hopefully AM's management is considering to get BRA and BRB!

Technically, RG already is bankrupt. They were the first Brazillian company to file under Brazil's new equivalent of the U.S.'s Chapter 11. Now, if RG liquidates, AM would be wise to try and pick up a few 777's, no doubt.

Back to the Topic, 49J/224Y seems a pretty "normal" configuration for a B772.

AF's new Config has 4P/49J/211Y in its B772ER, while the old one was 12P/56J/202Y.

I think it is a very comfortable configuration. At least the 34 in. pitch in economy is very nice. Many other airlines pack more seats into their 772ER's and offer less pitch. Or some others add a 10th seat per row in economy.

Yes, during the documentation process (AM-001) a passenger (with a paid ticket, I suppose) was denied to check-in because no available seats were left. Staff told him to await.

I recalled, last February, a quote of AM CFO or AM Customer Service Manager that the 3rd 777 was pending board approval and that the plane would be deployed to MEX-GRU route.

What is the seat pitch in Business Class? The seats look to be the same as JL, Thai, Malaysia, etc. I believe they are all set at 60", will AM be the same? What routes are scheduled to have 772 service? (and at what frequency?)
Thanks,

I just flew the AM 777-200ER as AM02 / MAD-MEX last Saturday April,8!!!!

I am not going to write a complete trip report, but would like to share some points/impressions about the flight with you:

I travelled in Economy Class, seat 17A, which is just over the wing. I chose this seat on purpose, since I really wanted to have the feeling of being on board the T7, it's amazing to feel the power of the engines at that point of the aircraft, and see the huge flaps doing their work during take off and landing.

I have to say the service AM is providing with this new aircraft is much superior than the one offered in the 767: the seat pitch is clearly more confortable, the flight seems much shorter with the PTVs with a large entertainment offer (several movie, TV series and music options, as well as video games, flight routing display, information about AM fleet and airports served, all this at any time of the flight), and the 777 just flies softer and with a great stability. Almots during all the 11 hours of the flight, you could tell the aircraft was grounded, because of the great stability there was in the passangers cabin. It was a very very pleasant flight.

When we were over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and everyone was sleeping, I went to have a look at the galleys, and the one at the back is amazing, is just enormous. I asked a flight attendant if she was happy to work in the 777 and she said everyone was delighted to have such an upgrade of their workplace.

Furthermore, I must stress that once again I confirm that AeroMexico's service on MAD-MEX-MAD is 1000000 superior than Iberia's.
Just look at the small details that really count for a passenger: in AM Economy Class at the beginning of the flight you receive an in-flight amenity kit with tooth brush and paste, sleeping mask and socks, as well as an in-flight catering menu. In Iberia, you only get a pair of socks, nothing else. If you add these small things to all the confort featuers that provides the 777, and that AM is now offering less expensive fares on this route than before, then it is really clearer than ever who is providing a much better service on this route.

Just to finish, I only would like to add that I am a bit disappointed of the AM cabin crew members. I remembered them very professional and friendly during my last intercontinental trip. But last saturday they were not so friendly all the time, or not all of them, and their English was terrible during Passenger Announcements. I only woudl like to mention this as a negative point of my experience, especially if AM pretends to compete with Asian carriers to Japan: with that service, the quality of the cabin crew will be definetly not at the same level of Japan Airlines, or other carriers from the same continent.

Regards,
Victor.

Yes, I was checking prices and the IB flight was 100-145USD more expensive than AM's one for this holy season.

Hey Fyano, actually the landing at MEX was one of the best parts of the whole flight. It was a gorgeous feeling to be flying over Mexico City on AeroMexico's Boeing 777: a great and impressing city seen from a great aicraft. It's amazing how such a giant flies over the skyscrapers skyline of the biggest city in the world.

At a certain point we flew over Torre Mayor, and I thought "the tallest building in Latin America seen from the most modern aircraft in Latin America"...that's Mexico City.

It was a really nice experience.

Did you write a complain? Hi BA0242. I've read your post and was disappointed when I got to the quoted part. It really makes me angry to know that passengers do not get a good impression on AM's crew-members, specially because I know many of them (obviously) and I think they do a nice job. But I must also admit that many don't take customer service too seriously. So, I really mean it: why don't you write a complain letter? We do get feedback from the airline once a passenger complains, and I really think it would do much for AM if you let them know...

BTW, good to know you enjoyed the flight!

Why didn't AM have the 777s fitted with overhead crew rest? Because it is leased from ILFC?
Some airlines on earlier models of the 777s didn't have the overhead crew rests available, but now it is. It seems uneconomic to take-up extra space on the main cabin for crew rests.
