I came across this article with pics of Qatar Airways new look with some pictures of a mock up its first class lounge aboard their Airbus A340-600. They have yet to receive any of course, but we can all look forwards to seeing the new colours appear soon.

Have any aircraft been seen in these new colours yet? Does anyone know which will be the first to be painted and which model?

Enjoy!

Its about the airlines and the planes they fly

Im not that impressed. Whats the difference? Made Qatar tiles and onyx oversised. You cant even see clearly what the Onyx logo is now, its just a big burgandy blob. It didnt need changed. I prefer the old one.

I personally like the livery.. its going the same way as all the other carriers in the area with big billboard style lettering like ek, ey..

Its fresh and brings the name qatar out of the plane.. definately an improvement..

The article is a month old, we've already seen it. You can even read that they would get T7s. (Hihi.)

The only thing that is sad about their new livery is that my A380 decals are basically obsolete.

The new QR livery looks like a cross between the Emirates Airways livery and Etihad Airways livery. No thanks.  thumbsdown

The new livery would make the airliners more distinguishable from the aircraft of the Amiri Flight which also has the oryx image.

onyx

Sorry to be nitpicking, but isn't onyx a gem stone?

True!
you need a second to really recognize what it is, however I still like it.

Qatar Airways -or shall I say now QATAR- really did make the most of 2 colors that would otherwise seem boring specially in air travel (grey and burgendy). Really Nice!

My only issue is that even the old colors are not really that old, only 8 years or so perhaps?

The Oryx looks different now as well. I liked the older logo. This new one looks abit strange.

I agree. Has anyone noticed that the head is an exact enlargement of the original one.
The face was originally much longer, one continuous arch from the top of the horn to the mouth. Now the mouth is separate.

Now that you only see the start of the horns it makes it unrecognisable as an Oryx.
I don't know how many of you have seen the "Alien" trilogy of films but the Oryx now looks like one of the nasty aliens!!  scared  Sorry!

Fantastic livery! Also the new first class and its onboard bar lounge look really good.

I can't see that QR joins to any airline alliance. As far as I know they are not a profitable airline and they wont be soon.

QR is not profitable????
But they are ordering a/c like crazy, changing their livery for no apparent reason (not a drastic change), and for some reason I have grown to consider them among the Emirates' of the world....lol

BTW- I like the new livery, it's a nice update, so perhaps new livery is not the right term!! The old one was great as well.

Same here! I cant wait to see what they do with the A380! Big grin
Big version: Width: 600 Height: 424 File size: 234kb

I think it looks good and will be very nice on the A380 but on smaller aircraft it may look strange.
