Hey guys!

Well, tomorrow I'm flying to SFO from MIA on AA. I'll make a connection to MRY on UA after I get there.

I wanted to know if there's any special place I can go within the airport to spot or any particular places I should see. I've never been further than Texas state Big grin hence my questioning, since I know several heavies attend there.

I'll appreciate any comments,

Thanks!

Enrique

Make sure you check out the observation deck at MRY. Its very nice and has an adjacent bar and restaurant.

797, besides some of the terminals, there aren't too many places to spot within the airport.....at least that I don't know of....

how much time do you have between flights and are you willing to go out of security? You can go between AA terminal 3 and UA terminal 2 without having to go through security again...........

So, I have about 3 hrs to goof around! What can I do...

Oh by the way, as I'm connecting with different airlines, this means I'll have to go outside the security area and do my check-in SFO in the UA desks??? or can I check in at MIA...

Thanks guys!

Be sure to go to the museum at SFO...it's a replica of the very first terminal building on site at that location.
If you have enough time check it out...it is in the international terminal.

Speaking of....depending on the time of day, while you are over there, go outside, and to the left, you get a pretty good view of the west side of the international gates where VS, KE, BA, and maybe another airline park.
I haven't gone to the other side, to the gates that UA uses.
From the US gates, you might be able to see AF, KL and I think QF, can't be sure right now....it's 5.000 miles away at the moment!

AA does do "thru checkin" so you shouldn't have too much of a problem at MIA...

hmmm....three hours time isn't too much, especially to exit the airport and come back....

one would have to exit security, and BA's/VS flights don't arrive until 2:00 p.m.

the other side you mentioned is not possible at all without riding the AirTran.....

but it is fun to check out all the planes using the AirTran...it goes around all the terminals, and you should get a very nice view of QF's 744...which just started serving SFO last week after a 10-year absence.....

within the terminal, but outside of security, one does get views like this (by International terminal G)

So I can actually use the AirTran to go through the terminals and just waste some time?

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate it!

the AirTran is outside the terminals, but you should be able to basically see all the planes from the various AirTran exits.....its easy to get around, try it, you'll have some fun.......I think that is probably your best bet to spend a few hours..... Smile

AirTrain, people, AirTrain.

AirTran is the airline based out of Atlanta. Big grin

Dear Enrique:

For some good plane spotting but outside of the terminal I would recommend airtrain stations to Terminals 1 & 3, this is the domestic terminals area and where the garage is for domestic you get a nice view from there. You Also get a nice view from Garage A & G ( A is where the BART station is) and G you get a southern view of the Airport with the heavies. Too bad you don't have time to go and eat at one of the restaurants in Burlingame right at the water (Like the Elephant Bar or Benihana's) there you get great runway views with excellent landings. I can't believe you are flying in from SFO to MRY the drive there is much prettier on Highway 1, when I fly to LA from OAK it takes us 20 minutes to fly to Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay, I can see it from 30,000 feet. Have fun in my home state, Cali.

Both UA and AA are in Terminal 3. Right now the only thing in Terminal 2 is the medical center, though it is expected to become home to Virgin America.
