Well it seems the Airbus 300-600ST Beluga will make it's first visit to Egypt, when the aircraft flies to Alexandria to pick up Ancient Egyptian articfacts for the "Egypt’s Sunken Treasures" exhibition. The flight will take the priceless articfacts (some of which weigh several tons) to Berlin where they will be exibited in Martin-Gropius-Bau between May and September. Beluga will then transport the artifacts from Berlin to Paris in December for exibition in the Grand Palais, Paris.

Does anyone have any more information on these flights like dates and times. I assume Beluga will use Alexandria's Borg Al Arab Airport (HBE) despite it's distance to the Mediterranean city due to Al Nozha's (downtown airport) short runway.

Really interesting info - thanks for posting. What an unusual use for the Beluga aircraft.

I recall reading (I think on the EADS site) that Airbus donated the use of one of the belugas as they're one of the exhibition's sponsors.

I recall reading (I think on the EADS site) that Airbus donated the use of one of the belugas as they're one of the exhibition's sponsors.

According to the link

--they are to be loaded onto the transport aircraft Airbus 300-600ST Beluga, which Airbus is lending for this special cultural undertaking.

--By providing the "Beluga" Airbus and its parent company EADS prove once again that they are good corporate citizens and culturally committed companies.

--By supporting the exhibition Airbus and its parent company EADS wish to make a contribution to cultural life

Well besides the positive PR the company will get, I'd imagine it's also added revenue when the aircraft would otherwise be sitting on the tarmac at TLS.
