VN and AA have finally announced that they will codeshare on each other's flights. VN will codeshare on seven domestic routes within the US, and on flights from the US to FRA, CDG, KIX, and NRT. AA will codeshare on VN's flights from HAN/SGN to FRA, CDG, KIX, and NRT.

Perhaps VN are looking a the 787-10, seems a logical choice for future long haul expansion especially since it operates the 777 already and has 787s on order.....if it needs immediate lift perhaps more 777s are someone above suggested- what about the 777-300er variant- any chance for immediate lift- perhaps through the ILFC or GECAS (if they've got any).

Yesterday, Vietnam and Korea agreed on (almost) open sky policy. Cargo market is opened immediatly and passenger market will be opened since 2008.
About 5th freedom, it is not actually totally free. Only 3 times per week is permitted. Korea airlines can fly via Vietnam to Asia, Africa and Europe except FRA and CDG. Vietnam airlines can fly via Korea to US and Canada. I believe VN will use this right anyhow.
