Maybe because this is my grandma's home airport, but I can't help but like this little guy...I was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and I was sad b/c it meant this airport was defunct for a bit. I liked how AirTran and Delta were beefing it up along with Continental, and even American started to take notice of it before Katrina hit. GPT has a website (http://www.flygpt.com/aboutgbia/expansion.htm) with details of the expansion, which looks amazing! I'm liking the fact that all of these small southern airports (RIC, GPT, Fort Walton) are updating to small scale, modern styles. Hopefully United will enter the GPT market!

The website shows service to 4 cities, I always thought GPT was bigger than this.

While not much bigger than it is now, prior to Katrina, there were 6 nonstop cities.
ATL,IAH,MEM,MCO,TPA,FLL.
AA was suppose to start DFW in Oct. of last year bringing the total to 7, but pushed back to Dec. Also, GPT had received a SCADS grant for DL service to CVG. I don't know what happened with that money though. The number of cities will be up to 5 starting on May 1, with the relaunch of MCO service on Delta. It is also rumored that FL will bring back at least one of the Florida cities (FLL or TPA) sometime after the Beau Rivage opens back up. I guess only time will tell.
It would be awesome if this happened! Wouldn't mind seeing US to PHL or CLT sometime soon too. There was talk about the possibility of a nonstop to PHL (I'm assuming on US) some years ago, but that was either prior to 9/11 or before US started having financial problems.
The airport authority hosted an Air Service Summit just last week with airline reps. to "sale" the area to airlines for more flights.

Part of me imagines GPT becoming a focus city for DL or FL considering that both were building up their presence at GPT prior to Katrina. Seeing all of the condo/casino projects going on in the area, I can imagine a focus city status for GPT becoming a reality within the next 10-15 years.

I really could only see US service to CLT from GPT as of now considering PHL flights are pretty limited...I could see MEM getting a PHL flight back (I remember US flying 757s MEM-PHL even post-9/11) before GPT gets one, but I'd enjoy both having one!
