What Is Going On At PIE Now?

Since ATA left PIE are there any other airlines serving the airport? I know that Southeast served the airport but they went under a while back. Wouldn't some airlines want to serve the airport? I think Southwest would be able to make PIE work pretty well but obviously they are set at TPA. Would a couple of weekly or non daily flights by airlines that serve TPA work at PIE?? Granted PIE is a small airport but i found it very convenient when traveling to the area. Any thoughts?  Smile

I also agree that it was a very convenient airport to fly into and out of. I used to fly People Express there in the 80's to visit friends from high school.

I flew there on ATA a few years ago and it took maybe 20 minutes from the time i got off the plane to get my luggage and leave the airport. I also liked using the stairs to board the plane  Smile

If *rumors* have it...Allegiant has been suspected of looking into starting another operation there. I think it would be great for them to open up another Florida station. What hotels or places could they offer travel packages at there in Tampa?
