Hi, I've noticed that BA have decreased Domestic flights from LHR more severly this spring, now that the summer timtable is here. Comparing with the W05/06 schedule, flights to EDI have gone down from 13 to 11 a day, flights to GLA have gone down from 12 to 10 a day, flights to MAN have gone down from 12 to 10 a day, and flights to NCL have gone down from 7 to 6 a day. The BA1328 to NCL stops flying on .30.4.06. Saying that, BA are increasing flights to at least 4 european destinations this summer. Flights to NCE rise from 4 to 5 a day, IST rise's from 2 to 3 a day, CDG flights rise from 10 to 11 a day, and flights to AMS rise from 7 to 8 a day. From Timetable.

MAN has over capacity with train and air competition..
2.5 hours from city centre to city centre
from LHR best bet is 3.5 hours
NCL/EDI are pretty fast by rail too.
With the new highspeed work finishing on the glasgow section.. this too is coming more attractive.
When Eurostar completes in 2007 and London to Brussels takes less than 2 hours, and Paris 2.5hours.. city centre to city centre.. expect BMI/BA to drastically cut back on this route, and AMS (by train in 2009 - 3 hours) and CDG.
Currently the airlines are hanging on to these routes because they can do LHR-BRU in 3.5 hours (city centre to city centre) when the train is about 3 hours.
At the end of the day.. fly further.. it makes more money.
Domestic routes in the future for BA will be more of connecting passengers.
So far in 2008 45 flights and Gold already. JFK, IAD, LGA, SIN, HKG, NRT, AKL, PPT, LAX still to book ! Home Airport LCY

It was announced they would reduce MAN, EDI and other domestics about 6 or 7 months ago. I agree with StarGold, competion simply everywhere, can't compete with the trains, the LoCos etc. It isn't feesable to do as many as 13 flights a day to EDI, and 12 to MAN. Remember they were using 757 and even 767's on those flights.
