We're in a family state of emergency. My mother-in -law is dying, and we're heading to Massachusetts to be with her. Wife and kids are in the air now; I leave TPA Monday for BOS.
My wife booked a US Airways flight to Providence last night, got a confirmation number and all. The kids found a flight to Manchester, NH.
Checking this morning, my wife found that USA had no record of her reservation..checked with name, confirmation number, and credit card number.
A supervisor worked some magic, and got her on the same flight as the kids
(was listed as sold out) . Props to her. The flight, US 1414, left TPA about an hour late for PHL. ETA is now about 25 minutes before their flight (3626) is supposed to leave for Manchester. Will they make it? And what happened to the original reservation? My wife and the kids booked on the same credit card (hers) Would their reservation cancel out hers?
I'm booked on a Song flight out of Tampa Monday...one way, because things are very uncertain. Anyone know about seat availability BOS-TPA Thursday and Friday? Seats out of TPA to the northeast are very tight--one airline had one seat available all weekend--SWA said nothing available northbound until Wednesday.
Thanks for any info.

Rule number one when booking with DL or US. DON'T CALL RESERVATIONS! Those outsourced fools couldn't book a paper bag on a proper itinerary. Use the internet. It's ten times easier and you don't have to talk to anyone. Best of luck with your situation.

I usually use the net. But in this case, we were in a rush..on the phone back and forth with about four other parties trying to co-ordinate travel. I have called DL's FF line, been connected to the call centers in India, and never had a problem. Had more trouble understanding someone at at Alabama call center. But still don't understand how US Air could have "no record" of my wife's reservation .....

Lucky you with DL's call centers in India. The only call center in the US for US Airways East is in Winston-Salem, NC. All others are in San Salvador. It's not impossible to lose a reservation based on the level of training those contracted res agents have.

The sad saga continues. While their TPA-PHL flight was late getting in,
their PHL- MHT flight was late getting out..so they made it. Unfortunately,
their luggage didn't. I do not have warm feelings about US Air now....

The Northeast, particularly PA and MD, had bad weather this afternoon. There are some things you can't predict. How the weather will affect you is one of them. Please give US another try.

Agreed--weather's a factor that no one can control. In fact, the delay allowed my wife and kids to make their connection. The lost reservation and "lost" baggage, IMO, are not weather-related, and would appear to be the result of
internal problems

I would tend to agree. I've never understood how one station can have such a problem with baggage. I can't explain it, other than laziness.

To update... Bags arrived 24 hours after wife and kids arrived. Contents of one were sopping wet. One can only wonder what the return will bring.  Yeah sure
