Noticed on Boeings web-site that there are currently 6x unidentified B787 orders, 23x B737s and 1x B767. There is also 2x new BBJ orders. Any one know who these orders are for? There are no unidentified B777s, so the current rumor about NZ getting B773s is obviously out the door

1 of the 787s is a 787-9, the other 5 are 787-8.

I wonder who picked up 1 787-9, as there are currently only two other confirmed customers for the 787-9. QF=30, LCAL=8.

Yes I do know that. All I was asking for was, does anyone have any ideas on who the orders are for and not a sarcastic reply

Not necesarily. There is still the issue of finance that appears to have been secured. And isn't the order list not always accurate?

6x unidentified B787 orders

1 x 787-9 for LCAL
5 x 787-/ for FJ (I've left the model out deliberately.)

Quoting 777ER (Thread starter):
1x B767

LAN Not sure whether a 763F or 763ER though.

Quoting 777ER (Thread starter):
23x B737s

4 x 73G could be for WN though they did not mention it in their recent release, we'll need the month end update for clarification. If not I'd say AirTran

Of the 19 738s I've no idea whom they're for.

Quoting 777ER (Thread starter):
There are no unidentified B777s,

Actually there are, it's just that they were listed last year on July 11th, all 5 B773ERs

Does it really take 10 months to announce a new order??!!!!! I thought India was bad but if these 5 77Ws are for ANZ then that's an awful long time to wait!!!!!

Hi AA1818, My answer was more in response to the fact that there were no 773ERs listed as UFO, when in fact there are. It was not my intent to imply that they were for AirNZ even though a publication dated October 2005 has reported that AirNZ has Ex-Im Bank approval for 3 x 773ER. The 5 x 773ER could be for AF via ILFC as they have ordered in this way in the past.

Quoting 777ER (Reply 6):

This much I can say, they are not 783s  Wink

Hi PanAm_DC10
thanks for the info. Even if they are for someone else- whoever they are for- it's certainly taking a long time to announce. I could understand a month, two, perhaps three or even four, but anything more than that is just dragging your feet.

Cheers,
AA1818

Forgive me but this seems unlikely.

(a) The unidentified 767-300ER (not F) listed on the Boeing website has PW engines. LAN's 767s all have GE (apart from three examples they acquired second-hand).
(b) Just a month after the unidentified order was placed LAN ordered three 767-300ERs, announced the order, and selected their usual GE engines.

That is not what you asked. You asked if anyone knew who these orders were for.... not if anyone knew who they 'might' be for.

Thanks. Can't anyone take a joke anymore?

And my remark was facetious, not sarcastic. Most people get these terms confused. I meant nothing by it. Unfortunately, he took my facetious remark as sarcasm.  Wink

You're welcome AA1818 but sometimes it does take a long time. Air Europa are a good example. They announced an LoI for 10 x A350 in December 2004 but did not firm the order until December 2005. A full year.

I understand that this is a different situation as the order was already placed for the 773ERs but EVA is a good example. On December 31 2002 they placed a UFO order for 8 x 773ER but it was not until almost 2004 that we found out the orders were for them. There are various reasons why airlines choose to order like this but I hope that clarifies it a little further for you.

Rather soon if my information is correct sir.

Could you possibly list a few PanAm_DC10? I suppose one of the more trivial reasons is to keep your competitor from knowing your business plan.

Thanks.

Sure Tifoso

1: As you mention, not let your competitor know
2: Some orders are influenced by Politic's, so not to let the other OEM know
3: Some UFOs are contingent upon financing, the airline may have the deposit to pay, but not the balance of the financing lined up. WS and the Ex-IM Bank for example.
4: Some are for Military platforms but come off the civil production line for conversion. This keeps procurement from one's neighbours.

Hopefully that might help a little
