Why did SAA repaint this aircraft in full colours then lease it straight back to Transavia when it was just returned to them last month in full Transavia colours?

Springbok 295, the flight that never made it home, 28 November 1987, may they rest in peace.

It may have been in the original lease that Transavia would pay for a repaint, back into SAA livery, at termination. When a new lease was taken up some months later it was in the lease to paint in Transavia livery. Most leases are written to return the aircraft in the same condition as which it was leased.

They weren't "full" Transavia colours. These are (the old c/s anyway):

I spent some time at AMS this week and quite a few of Transavia's planes are now in their new colours.
