Although Doha has a pretty new terminal, some of the facilities are sadly lacking. For an airline with the growth plans that QR has, DOH leaves a lot to be desired. All pax are bussed to the planes - there are no air bridges at the terminal. This will be an interesting challenge when QR gets its A380s.

Having said that, I have never had to wait for my baggage when flying to DOH. By the time I've cleared customs (with a visa already in my passport) my bags are always already on the belt.

Obviously DOH and QR have grand plans for the new airport, but I'm not sure when that will be ready.

Doesn't LH at FRA already have something similar?

Actually all Pax are NOT bussed. First Class are driven in BMW 750's.

Actually i really liked the buses. Felt cool to stand close to those widebodys.
Gave you much more of an airportfeeling.

Agree with what you said about speed.

Think a lot will happen before the asian games. And even more later. Qatar are watching Dubai closely in order to avoid making any misstakes made by the neighbour.

Would this premium only terminal somehow be related to the 5 unidentified Elite orders confirmed recently? What say you PanAm_DC10, my friend?

Maybe for QR but not other airlines as far as I know.

Actually, I don't think I've flown first out of DOH, but business pax are certainly still bussed to the planes. Regardless, everyone is transported, in varying degrees of luxury, to their planes.

Zizou,

Apparently early 2009 is the opening date for the new airport. They are just wrapping up the land reclamation now, which is around 50% of the new airport I believe...

That's why they are upgrading the current airport a little, to manage all the traffic...

Indeed, that same to my mind instantly when I read the topic.

LH has it´s own First Class Terminal (at least it is advertised that way) at FRA.

LH´s F-pax are said to be chauffeured from Terminal to a/c by Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes S-class cars.

Interesting. If this is the case, then why does LH have First Class lounges in Terminal 1 if First Class passengers go to a separate terminal? Or have the First Class lounges in Terminal 1 been closed down? I last passed through FRA in September 2003 so my information may be out of date. I remember seeing separate First Class lounges and Business Class lounges.

Conversely, would the existing facilities at Doha now be totally Y or would some areas be converted to other uses under the following, as logically, aircraft still have to dock there?....

IIRC, the First Class Terminal at FRA opened late 2004/early 2005.

I live in Doha and I wish I can say the same, I am not happy with the delays of baggage in most cases. especially when the terminal gets crouded

The T1 F lounges are still open.

The LH F terminal is only available to LH F passenger departing or arriving at FRA and guests must be on the same flight as the F pax. It is not a Star Alliance Lounge and is not usable by Alliance passengers travelling in First Class.
