Swissair @ PHL

Hello,

I know Swissair had some flights to PHL.

Can anyone tell me if they were non-stop?
What frequency did they have?
What aircraft did they operate?
When did they start/discontinue the flight?

Swissair had a daily one-stop service to ZRH-PHL via BOS on a 743. I don't know when they started, but they stopped in Oct. '98. I hope that helps.

Swissair operated service to Philadelphia from Zurich, via Boston, but dropped the service in 1998. The flight used to operate with a 747-300.

Makes you wonder if and when US Airways will start a
Zurich service from Philadelphia??

A long time ago....probably in the 1970's. The route was usually served with a DC10-30 aircraft, then switched to the 747-300. After the 743's were retired the MD11 was used, but now it seems the A330 is flying that route.

The Philadelphia route was added later. Not sure when though.

This has been a very profitable route for SR and one of its original USA routes.

I just wanted to say that Swissair does not plan to return to Philadelphia. The managment has cancelled most of the one stop flights because they werent doing too good econmically.
I have personnaly flown that route and there were maybe 20 people on board on the PHL-BOS route. In BOS the plane became really packed.

From what i know i think BOS became a Swissair destination in maybe 1948? . BOS is currently served twice daily with an A330-200 (sometimes the first flight is an MD11).
