NW's website shows a DC-10 in their seating chart section and I have seen them at DTW. Are they still flying them? If they are, what are the routes, and when are the flights?

Who else flies them and where to and from? I am in Connecticut and would most likely leave from NY area or Boston.

That is of course I can afford the ticket!!

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything useful.

Yeah, they still have DC-10s. I think DTW-LGW is a DC-10, for example.

Loads of DC10's at MSP. I counted four of them on the ground at once this morning.

Try this: http://www.nwa.com/travel/timetable/effective_050206.pdf

Do the mighty -10's still do MSP-SEA? That was the last time I took one, maybe two years ago...marvelous First Class section.

Next trip: SLC-LAX-JFK-LAX-SLC on AA, gotta say goodbye to my beloved 762!

I see 752's and 753's taking that route, now. I saw a DC10 take it a few weeks ago.

Doesn't the DC-10 fly DTW/MSP-HNL and DTW/MSP-AMS?

MSP-HNL daily
MSP-LGW daily
MSP-AMS daily (and another one with an A333)

Thanks,

It looks like I could actually route a flight from BDL-LGW.

Should I make sure my life insurance is paid up if I look into Binman? Big grin

Saw the MEM-AMS DC-10 taking off yesterday from a golf course just south of the airport. It was an absolutely glorious sight. It came right over me. It seemed as though it was twice as loud as Fed Ex DC-10s. It was a lot lower than the Fed Ex planes which take a steep rate of climb after takeoff.

Currently:

MSP-LGW (daily)
MSP-AMS (x3 daily, down to x2 in June)
MSP-HNL (daily)
MEM-AMS (daily)
HNL-KIX (daily)
HNL-NRT (daily)
AMS-BOM (daily)

So, with several changes of flight number, it's still possible to fly BOM-NRT the long way around the world on Northwest DC-10s!

(This is all from the timetable on NWA's website for the month of May. All these routes work in reverse, too.)

You could also pick up a NW DC-10 to/from HNL and Nagoya. Better yet, you could hit up an Omni Air Int'l DC-10 to/from HNL and LAS. Yuck.

What's wrong with Omni?

We've only heard good thing about them. Sometimes they swap DC10'S for 757's over HNL/LAS route.

Have seen some incredible last minutes fare only deals.

go to:-

www.omniairintl.com

www.boydvacationshawaii.com (contact these guys for seat only sales)

If Jetstar Int do indeed have cheap flights from OZ to Hawaii, then might get on them & then fly HNL/LAS with Omni, as a cheap way to get between the USA & OZ.

I would check NW flight 46 from MSP-AMS. It looks to be one of the last routes to stay a DC-10. I'm flying LAX-MSP-AMS just to get on the DC10 before it is gone (hopefully they don't sub it since my flight is in June) and the fare was not low, really. AMS isn't a bad place to vacation though!  Smile

25 Ward86IND : I go to Seattle every summer on NW, used to get lucky to get one of the legs with a DC-10. The past 3 or 4 years however, it's been only the 752 and
26 WesternA318 : Aww, I loved that part! not to mention the really sweet flares on landing...
27 Kdtwflyer : So it would be possible to do BOM-AMS-MSP-HNL-NRT all on NW dc10s?
28 Post contains images Planeboy : I don't think BOM is getting DC-10's any more. Its A332's now. I flew NW DC-10's couple of years back on SIN-NRT, NRT-SFO, MSP-AMS, AMS-BOM routes....
29 Post contains images Ikramerica : They must have those fat tires like the special -80 equipment they used for dirt field landing tests.
30 Post contains images VC10DC10 : Well, if you have hard evidence (i.e., a photograph) I'll believe you, but for right now the timetable says DC-10! I agree! See my username!
31 777fan : I've heard enough complaints from friends that have taken the package charters from HNL to LAS. Lost luggage, dirty/old birds, no service whatsoever,
32 JFK998 : more like... "if your contemplating suicide you can fly Bangladesh Biman out of New York" LOL
33 Post contains links Grude1087 : At any given time, you can go to http://flightaware.com/live/aircrafttype/DC10 and it will tell you which flights to/from the USA are in the air which
34 Desiguy2447 : Yes, you can still fly on the DC-10 aircraft. As already said above NWA still has routes with the DC-10. If you want an adventure you can always fly o
35 Post contains images Tbnist03 : I wish I had gotten to this thread earlier, when my was still useable. I know that MSP-HNL has DC-10s, plus you get a bonus of going to Hawaii. Other
36 JFK998 : I think their route is JFK-MAN now... they haven't done JFK-LHR since I believe 2003, thenafter they shifted over to BRU, now its MAN
37 YOWza : A little harsh but I agree there are carriers with better reputations out there. YOWza
38 Visakow : I don't think Omni Air is all that bad either, I got to fly military from Whidbey NAS thru ANK to Iwakuni for Navy last June. Good flight and decent
