Yeah, it means tallest control tower. I couldn't fit "air control tower" into the topic.

In Europe it is this ranking:

1. Amsterdam - Schiphol (AMS)
2. Munich - Franz Josef Strauss (MUC)
3. Oslo - Gardermoen (OSL)

1. Denver 2. Kuala Lumpur 3. Amsterdam. I think that when Inchon (SEL) opens in April it will have the tallest Air Traffic Control Tower. The777Man

I'm going with Denver, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Kuala Lumpur, just because they have the tallest building(s).

Denver is definitely the tallest in North America at 327 ft. This would make sense because DEN easily has the largest area out of any airport in North America.

Kuala Lumpur International has THE tallest control-tower - the pilots at BA seem to think so as they seem to remind us each time we fly in.

That comment about freestanding towers I think (possibly) relates to the Kuala Lumpur Tower in the City Centre in which case - is the 3rd tallest in the world after Moscow and CN Tower.

By freestanding tower I meant an ATC Tower. The highest tower built for ATC is Kuala Lumpur, but the tower that is the highest above ground is Vancouver Harbour Control Tower which sits ontop of a downtown highrise and is over 600 AGL.

I'm disappointed! Only one person got the answer. As pointed out by Nykaabi, the tallest air traffic control tower is Vancouver Harbour (not YVR!!!!!).

Ever been to downtown Vancouver or Stanley Park, and seen all the seaplanes and helicopters taking off and landing in and around Coal Harbour? This downtown air traffic is controlled by Vancouver Harbour, which, (believe it or not!) sits comfortably on the top of an oceanfront skyscraper (The Vancouver Sun and Vancouver Province newspaper building)!!!!!!

Are you speaking about this building? : http://www.geocities.com/PicketFence/5192/harbourcentre.jpg
I was there this month and I thought it was only an observation tower ontop of it. KUL isn't officially the highest ???

No that's not it. It is very close to that one though.

You can see the tower cab in this very large black and white photo.
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~davebg/vanmonohuge.htm

I might be slightly off on the height but it would still be taller
than Kuala Lumpur.

No! The building in the picture is the Harbour Centre Building, which has a revolving restaurant (like the Space Needle in Seattle and the CN Tower in Toronto) and is mainly used for tourism.

However, the building I am talking about can be seen very clearly from the Harbour Centre's viewing deck. In fact, the Sun/Province building is just a few blocks away!
