Please don't take this as an NZ bashing. I am originally a kiwi and very proud of Air NZ.

I am extremely excited about all the recent developments within ANZ including the new planes, new product, new uniform and new routes.

Although I have not personally flown on them since the new business class was introduced, it has been said on this website to be "the most superior product in the sky at the moment". In saying that, I have only flown business when given a free upgrade!!

I have however flown Upper Class on Virgin onboard their A346 and I am aware that this is the same setup as NZ. Although the lie flat bed was fantastic, it did feel a little cramped in the narrow booth that you are seated in. In addition, you feel a little exposed to everybody that walks by.

Looking at the photo of Ethihad's new business class, which is currently on the front of the photo page, their product looks extremely spacious and with maximum privacy. I don't know what the service is like on Etihad but the photo certainly makes their seats look a lot more comfortable and inviting.

I hear that the IFE on NZ is meant to be the best in the market although those screens on Etihad look pretty big. Having never flown business on either NZ or Etihad I personally am not able to comment.

I am almost to scared to ask this question, as I run the risk of receiving a barrage of verbal abuse. Is it possible to suggest something as scandalous as Etihad having "the most superior product in the sky at the moment"????  Wow!

It's all subjective, isn't it?

I've flown in the new Air NZ Business Class, and it's great. But Virgin Atlantic have the same seats and better amenities, e.g. a bar. There again, Air NZ Economy is so much better than any other long-haul airline that it's not funny.

I suspect, though, that SAA has the best Business class - not just flat horizontal beds, but side by side seating which doesn't face away from the window!

The reason why those screens look big is they are located infront of the seat not on your arm rest so thats why they had to make it big. It would be stupid to make a small screen and place it on the back seat when you have huge seat pitch of 63inch. The screen will definately look small and it will be hard to watch movies.

You have made some good points but remember that Etihad flies very differant routes from Air NZ - though that is stating the obvious. Hard to say whether it has 'the best product in the skies' as thats a very subjective question.

The only thing I don't like about the suites on VS and NZ is it's very hard to look out the window for more than 10 mins without getting a cramp in your neck but then the majority of NZs LH flights tend to be overnighters.

who r u kidding here apart from yourself. NZ in reality is really good at looking after NZ staff & that's about it. It's the public service for gods sake. They don't care about anyone but themselves & the govt keeps bailing them out when they go broake, so the attitude doesn't change !!!

When they go broke next time, let them & either a new airline will fill the void or someone else VERY QUICKLY !!!

You MUST be the village idiot with a comment like that. Can't you bury the hatchet from the days of AN and their gravy train, and focus on the present??

He IS the Village Idiot, we knew we'd lost him somewhere. Can you wipe the drool from his mouth and send him home?

But seriously, what alternate reailty are you experiencing Simpilicity? You've clearly not flown NZ.

HAHAHAHAHAHA thats a crackup.
Hey Simpilicity. I have noticed that you always bash NZ for no good reason. If you had read my earlier post about what PASSENGERS REALLY think of NZ's new product and the service on board, you would have not posted the above comments. NZ's customer satisfaction rates equivalent with SQ's or there abouts.

Thanks for directing me to that. It seems like Etihad is still in its infancy but has a good onboard product.

I would have thought that having a larger screen placed 63inches away would seem more natural then the normal smaller one up close. It is only when flying that we are made to sit so close to a screen. At home when watching TV I dont sit so close, even the small one that I have in my bedroom is nearly 3 meters away.
It does sound that Etihad has a more limited selection to chose from then NZ.

I have to agree, it all comes down to the flight on the day. It's a shame that NZ didn't manage to instal a seat massager like Etihad though. That and being able to look out the window would probably win me over if they were competing within the same market. (I am wheelchair bound which makes it HARDER to look out the window)!!!
