Iberworld In The Race For 5 A350s

Referring to Skyliner-aviation.de , not only Air Madrid is considering the A350 , but also Iberworld for 5 frames.
After Air Europa having already commited for this plane , next step in the Spanish Peninsula will be Iberia , who is already studying it.

How can Spain support so many small widebody operators? Are these airlines positioning themselves to be taken over by one the larger airlines in SkyTeam and Star to compete with Iberia?

There are many Spanish speaking countries in the world so Spain is a good European tourist destination for them and I suspect many from Spain like to holiday in Spanish speaking countries.

Exactly.
Maybe there are many airlines with wide bodies in Spain , but neither except Iberia have a huge wide bodies fleet.
Many of them are leased on ACMI flights around the world.See Air Europa who leases a 767 to Cubana , and Air Plus Comet and Air Pullmantur flies often for other operators worldwide.
