A good inside for ZRH spotters and soccer lovers.

Brazilian Soccer team will departure from GIG and will join Varig flight RG8772 to MUC with stop at ZRH where the team will stay before the World Cup.
The stop in ZRH is only for Brazil's Team purpose (Varig is the official airline)
Plane will be a MD-11 (good chance to see a RG M11 at ZRH, not an often visitor!)

Timetable:

RG8772 GIG-ZRH-MUC
Rio de Janeiro GIG Sunday, May 21 - 19:35 (local time)
Zurich, ZRH Monday, 22 - ETA 14:05 (local time) ETD 15:05
Munich, MUC Monday, 22 - ETA 16:15

As soon as i get the registration, i will add the information.

Good pictures and good lucky to Brazilian squadron.

Felipe

What will other teams fly?

Japan will be on the JL Blue Samurai 777 I think.

Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

I wonder what will happen if RG goes down before the world cup is over... do you think the CBF will charter a JJ A330?

Any chance the MD-11 could be one of the ex-LX birds?

Is RG going to paint the a/c with Brazil's football team livery?

So this is the scheduled RG flight to MUC making a stop at ZRH for this event ?

How will the team get to MUC then ? Another RG flight stopping at ZRH ?

Exceptions confirm the rule.

Brazilian Confederation CEO several times says that "Varig will take us again to and from a World Cup", i don't believe they need to charter another aircraft.

Probably! There are two M11 at GIG on final arrangements to get back to the fleet after an agreement with GE/GECAS. One of them probably will be painted on World Cup theme.

Hi A342, this is the flight from Brazil to ZRH, up to this moment i have no info on the flight from ZRH to Germany, but i believe RG will send one plane from MUC or FRA or they also could lease a 737 to do this short flight.

No, i doubt they use their ex-LX birds. Could be PP-VQF/VQH or VQX (those are now on CEMAN at GIG)

IMO, yes they will paint the a/c!

Venezuela will be flying on a sparkling new Conviasa 732 Big grin... Spotters, be aware that this aircraft will have to perform at least 28 stops before it reaches Munich, so expect to see a worn aircraft with bored-to-dead players inside!

Note: for those of you who don't know, Venezuela is not going to the world-cup  Sad

Cheers Big grin

The Brazilian team will do some training in Weggis near Luzern/Switzerland between May 22 and June 4.

On May 30 there will be a test game against a Swiss amateur selection in Basel's St-Jakob-Park stadium.

On June 4 they will play against New Zealand in Geneva and then leave Switzerland with a charter flight from Geneva to Frankfurt.

Regards,
RJ100

I just looked it up in Amadeus and it already shows ma a flight:

RG 8772 on May 21st, with a official stop in ZRH...

I am quite confused now, so are they just stopping for the soccer team there or is it a regular flight!?

regards

Just stop for the soccer team. But they are 22 players more technical assistants, coach, Brazilian Conderation CEO and directors, press and others. More than 50% of the flight for sure are for ZRH including all F+C seats.

But it's not regular. RG will not sell ZRH-MUC leg (on it's website shows transit restrction, which means, no pax boarding)

Do you have any info on this charter flight ? It seems RG is sending a plane from FRA for this charter (probably the same M11), but this info is not confirmed yet.

Quoting Danimarroquin (Reply 8):

They aleready painted PP-VPY (737-300) with a World Cup special livery, but you can await one on the M11 assigned for the flight.
