TASHKENT, May 10 (Itar-Tass) - Tekhnospetsstal Engineering, St.Petersburg, has signed a contract with the Tashkent-based Chkalov aircraft production association to purchase 30 Il-114 planes before 2008, the press service of the Uzbek company told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

Anyone willing to bet how many will actually be delivered?

Excellent news!

I had no idea wtf an IL-114 was, but I see now that it's a turboprop aircraft that reminds me of the BAE ATP.

I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

Reminds me of the SAAB 2000. Gold price up, oil price up, I guess there´s plenty money around in Russia that can be spent on things like that.

I went one better than that. I was thinking of the Tupolev 114!

If you're thinking of the SST,
then that would have been the Tu-144

He was. As I said, the Tu-114.  Smile

Tu-114 seemed extremely unlikely but if I'd thought it was the Tu-144 I'd have been too stunned to reply.

Well, they won't have far to go to deliver them. Aren't they produced in Tashkent?

Never knowingly under-plugged! wink

I'm performing a public service - some of the younger members here might not have a clue what a Tu-114 is/was.

And some of the older members think that's all there is/was.

As far as I know yes, and it is foreseen that they get an additional nine until 2008.
