What year is this? I could have sworn it is 2006 but based on that pic it is 1973.

Don't get me wrong, I like retro schemes on some airlines and a/c...this isn't one of them though.

Hola Ricardo,

Congrats on getting the first photo of such a great looking plane! I think this one looks nearly as good as the PSA retro. Airline liveries look so much better with cheatline(s)!

Regard,

Edward

Hi Lindy Fld!! Thanks a lot!! This is a great personal achievement for me... new mexican hot stuff always comes first from the north, now it was my time!!! I know it isn't the best quality as I wanted but I tried to bring it first to all and share it here with the rest of a.net's community members!!!

I've seen PSA, Allegheny and now Piedmont in the last month... I take PSA, Piedmont and last the Allegheny!!! At least all are great for a little change... and I also agree with you, cheatlines make some scheme's look better!!!

Not bad, but would look best in full PI titles, with the US title in smaller block around the L1 door.....same with PS and the others.

I see they chose to leave the "A319/A320" A/C stripe off the lower part of the tail as originally planned.

That's probably a good thing since it was really a Boeing product logo design.

I do like it overall; probably the best-looking of the US throwback liveries. Glad to see they didn't minimize the tail titles.

Anyone know what it says under the F/O's windows?

Blue is waaaaaay too light, but they did at least get the cheatline and tail logo dimensions correct!
Would be nice to see this on the 737/767 instead, but I'll take it!

Very impressive! It's really good to see the Piedmont colors and the wonderful Speedbird flying again. It could be the lighting, but does it seem like the blue on the new bird is a little faded out compared to the blue on one of the originals?

At any rate, it's great to see the Piedmont bird flying. Was in CLT a few weeks ago and had the pleasure of seeing the PSA bird as well. The "Smile" brought one to my face!

Happy Flying All!

I agree. However, at the time the Allegheny retro livery came out, some A.netters knowledgeable about the decision reported that the airline insisted upon putting the title "US Airways" above the cheatline. Whatever.

On the PI plane, they should at least make the "US Airways" titles red, in keeping with PI's red titles. Same with the Allegheny one, as AL's titles were also red.

I see it says "(something) Pacemaker" by the nose--nice touch.

Really great that a merged company would take the time, money, and effort to recognize the contributions of the predecessor companies and it's employees. I certainly wish my company had done this rather than the steamroller effect.

This one does seem too light a blue however. Maybe some hunting will turn up what they were trying to copy.

Absolutely. Even if us A.netters have suggestions for improving the actual execution, it's still terrific that US is doing this in the first place.
