I only wish they put the "PIA" (which is written in Urdu) at the bottom the tail as it would have kept a "continuous feel" to it..

other than that, it looks quite nice.. Smile

Jacobin777, the captain mentions it's "The Presidential aircraft".
So is it going to be used to ferry the president around, will PIA be flying it on revenue flights, or am i way off  Smile

BEU is only taken out of schedule when required for a State trip.

Hmm, I thought it was a coincidence when I noticed AP-BEU being used for VIP duty more than once. Shouldn't they just take the a/c which is easier to be taken out of the schedule at the time needed? Or is BEU is sort of used in a way thats always easy to pull it out?
Anyway its not as bad as I thought it would look like, hope it grows on me.

For security reasons only BEU is used for Presidential flights. All state visit schedules are planned and forwarded to PIA by the Ministry of Defence atleast a Month in advance. PIA then plans the schedule accordingly. This also requires making available 2 instructor/VVIP rated Captains for the trip. The aircraft goes in quarantine 24 hours before the trip during which it is stripped and searched by the Presidents security.

Very similiar to the AI B744s out here [Security point of view].With a Backup.
I always thought a Horizontal line accross the Fuselage would make the Livery better.

I think PIA should splurge for a VIP-only aircraft, a BBJ or A319CJ.

The livery overall is still UGLY, but now at least the tail and (only) the tail is a pretty sight. The colors should've been stronger, but it might just be the pic.

Pakistan had a VIP 737 which was given to PIA a couple of years back. I have forgotten its reg number (I am sure someone else will point it out). I don't know if it was owned by PAF, PIA or the government.
It was more of a political move by Musharraf, he was doing symbolic things like these to stir support, one of the very few good things he has done. So don't expect Pakistan to go back to getting a VIP a/c. I am like most, against it.

Like what?, make Pakistan an ally of the US, right? Remember there's a non-av forum. Actually he's one of the very few heads of state that has a good head on his shoulders in that whole region.

Musharraf visited the US on a 707 a few years ago, where's that machine?

Musharraf has never used the Pakistan airforce B707 for any visits. The 707 how ever did fly to the US some years back carrying millitary hardware.
