Just found something interesting on the web. A new Airline called Munich Airlines ( http://www.munich-airlines.de/english/home.html ) will launch Service from this summer on. They will fly MUC-BDA once a week with a Boeing 767-200ER Executive Jet.
The 767 will have around 90 seats...
In my opinion I don't see a market for a MUC-BDA flight and we have seen so man y new Airlines that wanted to revolutioanize with a only First Class segment the industry and which have failed. Apart from Privat Air I haven't seen a carrier doing this succesful. I mean not that I have an inside look on the Market, nor am I working in any position to judge this Airlines, but it is just my personal opinion.

I can even confirm as have reliably learnt that Munich Airlines this summer are having flights to tourist spots in DAR ES SALAAM - TANZANIA, French Islands of COMORES ISLANDS and MAYOTTE ISLANDS.

I mean no disrespect to fellow users and possible supporters of this airline, but I have followed the news on this airline as well, and I've got one thing to say:
I believe it when I see it.
the business model looks anything but promising...
If only pure sweetness was offered, why's this bitter taste left in my mouth.

Sorry, but I disagree.
Just see this airline as a kind of national carrier for Bermuda. Financing is backed by Bermuda Tourism. They intend to improve the direct links between Bermuda and continental Europe, getting less dependent on the UK and US market.
The configuration OK so far, maybe some changes need to be done as soon as they have gathered some more experience.
But the Bermuda clientele from Europe is not a low cost clientele, but very upscaled. And if you see the fares starting at 1699 Euro return including taxes and fuel surcharge (even of course cheaper for tour operator), then this is a realistic fare for a business class longhaul flight ! But it is expensive enough to keep away the low budget tourist.
Munich Airlines (not an "airline" BTW as they have no AOC under this name), offers connections from almost all Geman cities by dba as well to northern Italy.
And I think it is very realistic to fill up 90 seats PER WEEK in such a huge region to Bermuda. It is definetly a challenge in the first low season (November to April). But as soon as Bermuda as a golf destination is better marketed in Germany this should work as well.

Does anyone really think that this is going to work?
Germans have so many choices for beach holidays - anywhere from Spain to Turkey to Israel to Egypt to the Dominican Republic to Mexico - all with very sharply priced holiday flights and all inclusive packages. Everything from budget to super deluxe accommodation is offered.......do you really think that Germans are waiting to go to Bermuda.....and to spend a minimum of Euro 1699.00 just for the air fare to do it? Get serious.
Bermuda is lovely, I have been there, but its quiet and rather expensive....and for good golf, the Algarve is only 2 hours away from most German cities. Another issue is the seasons and weather, during the winter, many German and northern Europeans will fly longer for good weather and sun, but during the summer (when Bermuda is in season), so much is available with only a 2 to 3 hour flight.
Fly First Class also plans to fly to Wilmington, NC (London-Bermuda-Wilmington)......too bad that Munich will not be connected with Wilmington, that is a major untapped market!

Cheap stuff.
If you know Bermuda, you know that it is unique. Most people of that kind of budget have now been almost everywhere, even in Egypt, Turkey and Israel.
But you can definetly not compare Bermuda with those countries. Bermuda is safe and clean.
And we are talking about bringing 90 people per week out of about 100 Mio to Bermuda. I think at the moment even more than that travel to Turkmenistan !
I think it can work, but it needs a lot of work and even more money to make it a success.
And I have seen quite a lot of countries and tourist boards sponsor (guarantee) flights. And it is always a difficult operation (because very political). Bermuda has the money. Let's give them a chance and see what they are able to make out of it.

Not unique enough to spend Euro 1699.00 per person for flight only......and how much marketing can be done for one flight per week that carries 90 pax? I hate being negative, but if you seriously think about this from a business point of view, you will realize that it does not have a chance.
And, there are lots of ultra-luxury resorts throughout the Med that far exceed anything thats offered in Bermuda.

The plane is based in LON and has transfer flight to MUC for the Bermuda Services - but Munich Airlines wants to use plane for whole week, so they may offer more services (North America).
