I submitted my time off request to management today. Hopefully it will get approved so I can leave on the trip. But for right now count me still in. I am working on all angles. I won't know what my final schedule for July will be until 20Jun.

Hi folks, sorry for being so late to reply but I didn't spend a lot of time on A.net over the past few weeks... Anyway, I'm not 100% sure to be there at that time due to an important schedule change at work but I should be able to give an answer by the end of the week, and I put myself on the "probably" list for now. I really hope to join !

Hi guys!
Thanks RootsAir for the help provided for the organization of this new meeting. Patrick is currently in an Asia business trip until the end of this week and he will appreciate you took so much care of his thread. It will be great to see you back.
So, IBERIA319 is joyining again. Also looking forward to seeing you back. So, this time you chose to fly with JKK in their new Code Share flight with Swiss to Zürich. Really cool!!. They use the MD's which I don't like but JKK normally gives a good service and the cabin looks much better than Iberia. I will fly with U2. Just the same flight we used in the winter meeting to BSL.
And nice to see new people will join this time. Can't wait for this new meeting!!

Hi David, it will be nice to see you once again!! I'm looking forward to the meet, too. Yes I chose Spanair as it was the first flight into Zurich on Saturday. I don't like their MDs either, but on the way back I will be flying on Swissair's A319. And yes, both airlines are now codesharing!! Spanair had some good offers some weeks ago, 70 Eur + taxes for a return ticket to Zurich.

I was looking at booking a room for the time there and was wondering if anyone can suggest a relatively inexpensive but good hotel near the Airport. I have a room tenatively booked at the Hilton ZRH but it is 235CHF a night. Or if anyone would like to split the cost of a room, it would greatly be appreciated. I would hate to make a day trip out of it, but if I must I will.

A lot of us are staying at the Ibis Zurich Messe-Airport for around 85CHF. It isn't on airport property, but they have a free shuttle and the hotel is pretty good. Nothing exceptional, but rooms are clean, bed, shower, toilet, what more do you want?

You're welcome to sleep over at my place, I have plenty of space, but it is not directly at ZRH. I'm in Freiburg Germany and you'd probably pay about as much for the train than you would have for the hotel. But then, you'd get a chance to visit what is one of the most beautiful German cities.
By the way, this offer goes for anybody at the meeting. My girlfriend is out for the weekend and the house is eeeeempty (echo! echo!)

Not even the snows of North Dakota can keep me from this one!!!!!! I've also added RJPieces to the "probably" list, since we've been talking about it and both come to the conclusion that a little Europe trip would be fun.

Hi Guys,
thanks for keeping up the thread RootsAir!!!
Just came back this morning on LX 139 from Hong Kong. We suffered severe turbulence's over north Himalaya for about one hour. The captain was asking for a higher flight level but there was a lot of other air traffic. Thus, we had to go on to cruise on 8,700 meter. One turbulence shot the A343 a few meters up, to the right and fast down again. (Was the first time, we needed really the belt, since the momentum downwards, lifted the pax almost out of the seats.) This one was rather rough, since one of the flight attendants fall almost in one of the rows and some pax splashed their drinks. But she continued smiling, as LX attendants do always. Great friendly crew, lovely service and a nice time aboard. Both ways... Thanks LX...
KA, CX, and UA was even nice, but CX was outstanding regarding the service in an 2 hour flight. (SGN-HKG) Amazing food. They came up twice with big whine bottles to fill and refill.. Really nice... And in every seat personal TV's with a lot of program.
What I didn't like is the annoying noise the B 777 is doing in the back. It sounds always like a starting vacuumer. It goes for one or two minutes, then it shuts down. After a few minutes the same. This is starting already while boarding and finishes while disembarking. What's that noise? So far, I think only the 777 does it.

Any updates lately as to program or people, this has dropped off of the first page of discussions. Just trying to keep it up there without have to go thru a search.

Did you just hear this on the ground, or inflight too? It could be the APU.
