When and where was their last 727 flight? I've heard on AA, UA, NW, and DL, but nothing on CO. Anyone have any info? Thanks!

Continental mainline retired the last 727 in late 1999, the final flight probably arrived in IAH, but Continental Micronisia still had them in the fall of 2000. The last MD-80 at CO left the fleet last year.

I believe it was on 28 Nov 99. I don't have any other details though. The Micornesia division retired their last 727 on October of 2000.

I don't recall the date but the last scheduled CO (non-CMI) 727 flight was IAH-DEN.

COSPN...I beg to differ with you...From what I recall, most of the CO 727 fleet had been modified to Stage III. Remember, there was a mod for the lower powered JT8D that did not require the extended exhaust nozzles. There was no external difference. American also operated many 727's with this same mod.

COSPN..From what I remember, all new aircraft had to be STAGE III compliant from 1990 onwards. However, existing a/c had until December of 1999 to have hushkits or re-engining done. Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories were exempt.

COSPN...Additionally, there was a phase in period to be compliant for Stage III. In other words, you could not operate your Stage II fleet right up until the deadline. As each year got closer to the deadline, your percentage of STAGE III a/c needed to progressively increase accordingly.

MMMMMMM

Well I Think CO Mainline Ran a few almost Till the deadline...CO Micronesia phased them out also, after the Mainland Dealine..along with the MNL Freighters becuase cost effective for CO to support only a few 727's..I still dont think CO ever Hushkitted (stage III) a pax 727, because they were on the way out..

Agree. However, I think the last flight was the island hopper west. The issue was the runway at Chuuk (TKK). It had to be fixed before CO Mike would let their 738s land there.
