As a Tow Truck Driver and airline enthusiast my duties usually take me to Newark alot to pick up vehicles at the airport or around it. Everyday of the week I see a Kalitta Air 747 sitting in the same spot on the North Ramp next to 22R and i was wondering whether or not this aircraft is being stored there or does it actually move? Cause it is actually starting to make me mad looking at this aircraft and i just want to hop the fence push the aircraft 2 inches just to say it has moved. Just to rephrase my question, does this aircraft operate or just sit there and look pretty? thanks for the comments since this is my first post.

People used to ask the same thing about the DHL 727 near the Turnpike, yes both moved. The only reason why the DHL 727 looked like it never moved because it left at 11PM at Night and was back around 7Am the next morning so most folks saw it sitting on the tarmac.
The same thing with the Kalitta 747s, Kalitta is basing a couple 747s out of EWR but they are really operating almost double daily flights from McGuire AFB.
I live not too far from McGuire and I see the Kalitta 747s all the time, they come in very low from the Coast. Polar, Evergreen and Atlas run weekly flights from JFK to McGuire.
The Kalitta 747s from EWR and the Atlas and Polar 747s from JFK fly to McGuire Air Force and pick up equipment and supplies which they then fly to the UK or Germany and then onto forward operating bases.
To monitor the McGuire flights check this web tracker, today for instance there's two flights from JFK on Evergreen and Atlas 747s.
With Mc Guire being adjacent to Fort Dix which is the largest East Coast pre-post deployment location for most US Army Reserve, Army National Guard, Marines Corps Reserves, and Naval Reservists there are dozens of charter passenger flights each week into and out of McGuire AFB. Over the last two months I've seen everything from UAL 747-400s to Southwest 737-700s bringing home a company of Illinois National Guard Soldiers.

I hear those flights all the time going over my house to land at McGuire i always joke that one day a pilot is goin to think my driveway lights are actually runway lights and i am goin to find a KC-135 or a 747 sitting in my driveway the next morning. But i like to thank you for giving me that info cause that has been bothering me for years and i am not kidding bout that either

I ALWAYS used to wonder about that DHL 727!! Why only operate her for 8 hours a day? Probably making more money than commercial airlines in those 8 hours.....

RJpieces, they only operate at night b/c that's when the freight moves. Everynight Freightdoggers fly freight everywhere at all times of the night...they're the Hardcore Pilots who laugh at United and Delta Jocks.

I know, but surely there must be something they can move during the day? I guess it must make the most economic sense to keep her parked 16 hours of the day...

Well i asume they only fly at night because if you go up and down the highways everyday most of the trucks on the roads are from FedEx and UPS those are the trucks that go from the distribution warehouses to the airport cargo terminals carrying the packages from that days collection and i might add those truckers have some roadrage in them.
