I just found this picture taken @ Xiamen.

It has Korean Air Cargo titles painted on it, it looks like a 744BCF.

But it doesn't say that it is a BCF in the DB, and the windows are still windows, not metal plugs.

Also I can't see a side cargo door.

New registration of the database!I'm feel strange that this B744F cargo has so many windows unpainted which can't be seen at other Korea Air's B744 freighters! It's my first time to see the KE send its plane to make maintenance at Taeco

It is ex. Air India VT-EVJ.

What's going on?

Tom.

The aircraft has not yet been converted. It merely carries the new titles. it is rather strange that they painted ut before its conversion, but there you go!

Thanks CX flyboy.

It seems a strange way of doing it.

Tom.

Indeed strange, perhaps some bookkeeping thing that it must be back on KE reg before the conversion.

That wouldn't make a differene anyway, they could have changed the rego to KE and had it still in AI colours until after painting.

But yes this is a strage way of doing it.

It all depends on the leasing guidelines. If the guideline states that the plane must be painted back in KE colors when lease to AI ends, then AI will have to paint it back to KE colors.

Since KE has selected this plane to be converted to Cargo, maybe they just inform AI to paint Korean Air Cargo titles instead.

Still I´d say the "747-4B5F/SCD" part is incorrect. Obviously this particular A/C came out of the factory as a pax version so it cannot be a -400F. A cargo conversion would make it either a -400(SF) or a -400BCF (add "SCD" after the door has been installed).

There is another topic about this, try the search function.

Plane has finished the lease with AI and now being converted to a BCF. Why they painted the plane before the conversion.... I'm not sure.

Here is a preview of how it will look like when the first KE Special Freighter is completed.

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 683 File size: 67kb
Will KE ever do this to their passanger 747-400's once they take delivery of their A380's?
