Is there any talk of updating IB's livery? They have one of the most dated in Western Europe. From the colors to the script to the logo on the tail it screams the 80's at its best. It reminds me of the old Hawaiian logo that they did away with some years ago - just a different color scheme.

That was a bit harsh IBERIA747. If you have the apprpriate link let Mkirch72 know. BTW I like IB as it is. Reminds me of AA. It says "Spain" with the colors and crown. Better than Eurowhite and kind of classic IMHO.

Have been spotting in ZRH this Saturday for a few hours. The IBERIA livery just pops in the eyes. Somehow I like it a lot, the colors show pretty much the mostly warm/ hot regions of Spain.
If IB would really change the livery, they should be careful, not to loose the classic "spirit" of the current livery.
How about some design suggestions from our artists here in A.NET regarding a new IB livery?
Well I think it just depends on how "sensitive" the person is. The truth is that I never thought about being harsh with that, but just in case...I apologize to those who think that it was harsh.
Anyway, the truth is that this forum is full of those "airlines in need of a new livery" threads, of which we see a new one at least once per month....Air France, Iberia, American Airlines, Lufthansa, Alitalia are always mentioned there so I think saying that it's been discussed to death is right...and if you do a search in the polls and preferences area you will see that what I say is true.
Anyway, in addition to the links provided by IberiaA319 I'm giving you 3 more, so you'll be entertained for a while.

I agree - they have one of the most recognizable brand colours.
Agree with both of you. Even if the livery is more than 25 years old, it's very representative and worked well for Iberia, I like it.
It still works well I think.

Totally agree. I think they shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken.
Remember that this is a site for aviation enthusiasts and most of us tend to be picky for things like this, but the truth is that more than 90% of the flying public can't even notice the difference between an A340 and a MD-87. However, they can recognize/identify an airline by it's livery more often, and Iberia has one of those easily identifiable schemes.

If there is one thing that I like about Iberia is the livery! It has one of the most recognizable liveries, and changing it would be very risky. Maybe they could change the font (I don't think they should) but not the entire livery.

Leave it the way it is. It shows the colors of the spanish flag, it's bright, it's easily distinguished from far, and it really looks nice on the new A346s! If it aint broken, don't fix it!

well, at least two of three colors are the spanish flag, which make up the colors on the IB on the tail.

Actually the taillogo has the two colours of the Spanish flag (along with the Crown), however the middle stripe on the fuselage is in a lighter shade of red, which isn't part of the Spanish flag.

oh my god....a 30 year livery. it s about time they changed it.
eurowhite wouldnt be the best option but at least it would look better than the current outdated and sort of kitsch livery they have.

Iberia's livery is one of the most instantly recognisable ones out there! As soon as you see those colours you immediately think 'Spain'! It's so distinctive and lovely!

IBE6402/6403 fly over KCRP between LEMD-MMMX every few days. And at FL360 its still a very recognizable scheme. If anything keep the colors just touch it up a bit.

Quoting Goodbye (Reply 19): Sad day if that ever gets changed.
One can change and adapt a c/s or livery without making it unrecognisable from the previous iteration. There is brand equity and heritage in the current scheme and colour palette so an evolutionary rather than revolutionary approach to change would be appropriate in my mind.
Overall I do think it looks a little dated and tired, in need of refreshment!

Changing the livery doesn't mean changing what makes it stand out. From the posts I've read so far, the colors of the Spanish flag and perhaps the crown are what people like the most.
I think it would be nice to upgrade the livery. Think of El Al's new livery - same color scheme but it has been "modernized".

Pay no attention to the nasty comments. I dont understand why some get so bent out of shape if something is discussed two or more times especially if it hasn't been discussed for a long time. There are new people to this site all the time and some are not familiar with all the features. Some of these guys are ready to string you up if you start a thread which has been discussed before.
