While on holiday in Rhodes recently I was taking some photographs at the airport and happened to see a Piper OY-JPL. Just another light aircraft you might think, but no, there is a lot more to the story...

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 737 File size: 801kb

Basically it's the story of one family that decided to fly around the world in one year (mum, dad and three kids). They even have a website where you can keep track of them here.

This is the planned route:

I sent them a copy of my pic and they were most impressed.  Smile
So if you happen to come across OY-JPL at your local airport please let them know and show your support. I think they are currently in Croatia.

That sounds really cool...I hope they have a great trip.

If you think that sounds interesting, I highly recommend Flight of Passage, by Rinker Buck. It's a factual account of a trip the author and his brother took across the US when they were kids. They flew a Piper Cub from the east coast to the west coast. Great book.

Well if that's their planned route, and they have been in Rhodes and Croatia, I hope they can improve their map reading skills  Wink

J/k, Would be cool to do, the furthest I have ventured in the Warrior is Gloucester so I guess it's a bit more of an adventure!  Wink

Shouldn't the kids be in school though......

Sounds like a great idea. To be honest, this is something that I would like to do myself when I am about 40.

It is summer time, and besides, this trip would teach them alot more than school can.
