Hi All,
I am just curious as to how many gates Delta, TWA, Northwest Orient, Eastern, and Republic had at O'Hare in the 1980's since they all had farily good sized operations here?

TW:
Ticketing was on right side of Terminal 3 next to Rotunda and TWA used gates in Concourse G. (G had 12 Gates, shared with TW EX, AA,AE and AC)
DL: Ticketing in left side of Terminal 3, gates in Concourse L (with Crown Room)
NW:
Tkting Terminal 2,Gates Concourse E (E had 15 gates, shared with HP,UA)
IIRC EA ops were at Concourse F. (F had 12 gates, shared with CO,SK,US,US EX, and OS).

Howdy,
I love talk of ORD in the past... especially 1980's
DL: 3-4 gates in concourse H until about 1984, then opened up concourse L with 10 gates.
TW: All (then) 11 gates in concourse G, the only exception is G1 that was AC. Started to give them up to UA and OZ on the west side of the concourse in the mid 1980's. Once UA opened Terminal 1 in 1987, UA moved out of 4 gates and AA started to move in.
NW: 5 gates in concourse D until it was demolished in 1987, then 5 gates vacated by UA in concourse E.
EA: 4-5 gates in concourse D until it was demolished in 1987, then 1-2 gates in concourse F.
RC: 3-4 gates in concourse H until ?. Not sure exactly when they gave them up, probably around the time of the merger with NW.
By the end of the 1980's, AA had all gates in concourse H, along with many in concourse G. One interesting fact, AC held onto G1 for the longest time. AA had taken over the entire concourse, was ready to do renovations, and had to negotiate for some time with AC to get that gate. It was funny to see the lone AC aircraft tail in a sea of AA aircraft tails. Eventually, AA took over the entire concourse and made renovations that created on the of best regional facilities in the nation.
