I was reading the news today and I came across a picture of the Argentinean team arriving in Germany for the upcoming world cup on a chartered flight from southern Italy.

The charter in question is “Air Solomili” or similar (something that I never heard before in my life). What AC is that? (link below)

http://www.servicios.clarin.com/nota...1575&mtmTipo=Imagen&mostrar=575398

I also learnt the players originally flew from Argentina to Italy in various scheduled flights. I am surprise with such well paid players they did not charter their own plane.

Does anybody knows how other national teams will be flying to Germany (or flew already)? I remember in France ’98 England came back on Concorde (If anybody can find the pic will be great

England will be flying on British Airways. They always do as it's good PR for both the team and the airline. Usually a B767 or T7. Didn't know they flew concorde in 98 though!

National Team of Togo arrived 2 weeks ago on Eurowings Avro Jet.
The "Socceroos" from Auatralia will arrive on Tuesday, June 6th with Qantas at Stuttgart Airport (STR). John Travolta is supposed to fly the plane himself.
And there are rumors that "Wunala Dreaming" will be that aircraft.

Of course the 'Qantas Socceroos" will be arriving on QF.

QF is a major sponsor of the team...

The Brazilian team had a two week training camp here in Switzerland. The RG flight GRU-GIG-MUC made an extra stop in ZRH to bring a part of the team (there is a thread about the RG MD 11 in ZRH). Other players came directly from MAD or even by car from Milan. After their testing match in Geneva they will go to Germany. I think by a Swiss or German airline, don't know which one.

ATR, guess the 42-500. But it is difficult to say, could also be a 72.

I believe "The Socceroos" have already departed for europe this week ahead of the World Cup. The Socceroos have 2 friendly matches prior to the World cup in 2 weeks....I also believe the aircraft operating the special charter for the 'Socceroos' is B767-336ER 'Victor Hotel - Zooloo X-Ray Bravo'

Fair enough, we haven't won too many trophies as a national team. Oh but hang on, I seem to remember we've won a damn site more than Slovenia! And I certainly don't see Slovenia in the group stages.... Oh, wait a minute... you haven't qualified have you? AGAIN!
