PIA747:

Thanks for posting the pictures. The PIA scheme is stunning on the ATR42. The flag on the tail was terrible, the regional scheme is much better.

First flight tomorrow Karachi-Gwadar, as for Rahimyarkhan its actually "Rahim Yar Khan". This map http://www.piac.com.pk/images/domestic_dest.gif has all of the stations ATR's will take over from the F-27 give and take a few places that may have been suspended, some of them were only served with DHC-6(Twin Otter) which have been phased out of the fleet others became totally unfeasible, with the exception of KHI, LHE and ISB all of PIA's domestic services are economically unviable.

PIA are also introducing 772ER on OSL-CPH route on both services inplace of A310 and the 742M is back in IAH in place of 772ER for both services.

PIA747...shukria for the photo links.... Smile

they look nice.....maybe next time I go to KHI in the fall/winter I'll try to book a flight on one of the routes just to fly on one of these birds...I've never been to any of the smaller cities, so it will give me an excuse to go.... biggrin

I'm surprised PIA hasn't ordered RJs to ply some of these routes in place of a 737.

Because those are even more economically unviable than 737s

So I take it that the routes ex-KHI are first for the ATR - this gives the F27s a little longer in ISB, then. So, how long before the final F27s are replaced?

Correct.

Regarding domestic route map PIA no longer serve Sehwan Sharif, Ormara, Bannu, Hyderabad, Jiwani, Khuzdar, Muzaffarabad, Dadu, Mirpur Khas, Sui, Rawala Kot, Mianwali and Parachinar.

737 only does KHI, ISB, LHE, Peshawar, Quetta, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Skardu and Sukkur all the rest are F-27 routes with the exception of Skardu which only gets jet service.
