When will the oakland airport new terminal extension be open, and will that be the only part of OAK that will be expanded just at the Southwest area?

And can anyone also explain the new white steel awning frames being placed in the former parking lot area in front of the terminal, the same structures were also attached to the front of terminal 1, there is also a lot of road work going on near the former UA hanger leading into the passenger terminal area - the OAK website isn't very specific about what's happening.

I believe the T2 expansion is supposed to open Spring of 2007. The last time I was there, it looked like they were making pretty good progress on the expansion.

Also, the WN baggage claim area has been redone and I believe is open now.

As far as other projects, perhaps others will know more.

The OAK website says four of the new gates open in summer of 2006. If I recall correctly, there are six gates being built for a net gain of five (gate 27 went away to make room for the expansion).

I believe that the remodel of T2 will be completed by This fall maybe Nov 06, since on the website it did say that it would be completed this summer. You would think it wouldn't take them long to finish the interiors and the jetways which looks like the only things left.

It sounds like the construction is ahead of schedule by a little bit. That's good to hear. I thought the new expansion (redundant) was only going to have five gates. Perhaps WN will be moving all of its ops to T2 by this summer. That would free up four to five gates in T1 for you know who???

My guess is B6. If they get all those gates, they could really expand. They have plenty of destinations to expand.
