I came across this pic in a magazine yesterday. It appears to clearly show a Lufthansa 737 in the background -- the crane symbol is visible on the nose -- yet there seems to be an extra "an" in the airline's name. I can't see any reason for the pic to be Photoshopped as it was of the footballer, so can anybody enlighten me as to what name is painted on the side of the plane?

It is a Lufthansa aircraft, but the picture does appear to have been photoshopped - see how deep the white area comes down in that area versus the white area at the nose.
Maybe there was something/someone in that area that they did not want in the photograph, so they simply chopped the area with 'an' in the phot and re-pasted it further to the right (a very crude edit). The window spacing looks a tiny bit off there, the second 'an' appears to be larger. I'm trying to decide of the man on the steps has also had his fornt blended a bit as well.

I am guessing there was something on the far right of the picture. They probably just edited the photo with the portion of the plane that said "an" and copied it and moved it to the right. As pointed out the plane is white and the color does not change all the way to the ground, so obviously there is some editing, since there is not bottom to the plane on the right side. I'm personally guessing that there was a bus there and they did not want to show it.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!
