Canadian north airlines and regional one have entered a agreement to operate upto 8 dash-8-100/300s over the next 3-5 years.C-GTCZ is the first aircraft to wear Canadian north colors (still missing the polar bear on the tail). The aircraft will be owned and operated by regional 1 airlines but will wear canadian north colors and operate on canadian north flights. The carrier plans to operate several new flights mainly from YEG (Edmonton) to various destinations within alberta and B.C. and from several points in the west to the CNRL site north of Ft.Mcmurray.

Hmmm this is very interesting, I haven't heard anything about this buzzing around? Dash 8 ops better be into some pretty remote areas, could open up some new markets though! Hope they get another F100 sometime soon, any pics of the Dash around?

I also heard that Air Canada started regular dervice between Edmonton and Yellowknife. This sounds obvious, but my friends sister moved up there and told me that basically air service between the territory and the rest of civilization is intermitent, and stupifyingly expensive.

The AC service to YZF begins July 5th with CRJ7s. Another of Regional1's Dash-8s is now operated for North Cariboo; since they stopped their own scheduled service they seem to be doing ACMIs now.

Yellowknife's IATA code is YZF ?! Thats excellent. As a long time Yamaha enthusiast and ex employee, it warms my heart to know that the spiritual sister of the R1 (actually model name YZF-R1) is a tiny territorial city in the deep north.

I'll mention that to my friend's sister next time I visit her.

You may be able to fly a little cheaper on AC up north but you sure as hell ain't going to get the baggage allowences that 7F and CP provide. And the service on both 7F and CP are far beyond what airlines provide today (towelette service, hot meals).

Who knows, CP is really doing well, especially being awarded all these new contracts. They may be able to pass some of these earnings on to the passengers by lowering some ticket prices.

I heard rumor that Air Norterra (parent company) is actively seeking 737-300's to start replacing a few 737-200C's. They would convert the -300 to cargo and keep a few -200s for gravel operations.

Any word on what is happening to the F28? I heard it may be kicking around for a little while longer.

The F-28 has now been pretty much parked, the F-100 is flying most of its flights aswell as the morning YEG-YZF run.
The first 5T Dash-8 is based at YEG and hangered there aswell the polar bear decal is to be put on in the next couple weeks,so for now it wears basic canadian north colours. The aircraft has been flying as a freighter for the last couple days over a YEG-YZF-YEV routing. The dash 8 as a freighter???Well with 5T we shouldnt be surprised!

I've just spent some time on the Canadian North website and it appears some changes have been made. The Fokker 100 appears to be doing a daily
YYC-YEG-YZF-YVQ-YEV-YVQ-YZF-YEG-YYC run except Saturday. The evening Edmonton-Calgary service has been replaced with the Dash-8 along with service to YHY. Service between YZF and YHY also appears to have been discontinued. The Dash is probably the right size aircraft for Hay River anyway!

Any speculation on what routes could be opened out of YEG?

I wish First Air would do the same with a couple of ATRs in the east.

No more jets at YHY...the F100 is probably way too big  Sad I bet 7F (and Buffalo) are happy 5T has abandoned the YZF-YHY run.

Anyone have details as to the city pairings/frequencies of the new east-to-YMM 737 charters?

Wow, there's a lot going on at Canadian North these days! Perhaps a forshadow to future scheduled service to/from YMM? YMM is certainly a natural missing link in the Canadian North network!

The Dash-8 will we taking over YHY operations with flights to YEG but no longer YZF. Furthermore, the Dash-8 will be complimenting the Calgary/Edmonton Fokker 100 service. I believe the routing is something like YEG-YHY-YEG-YYC-YEG but I'm not sure where the Dash-8 will be based, Edmonton or Calgary? I also assume it will be utilized for numerous small strip northern Alberta/BC charters as mentioned earlier.

I wish First Air would make its way into the Calgary market! There is no longer a direct non-stop flight between YYC-YZF as it appears Canadian North's F100 service will now make a stop in Edmonton both ways with the new routing. It would be interesting to see First Air ATR's in the local Ontario market but I'm not sure what routes aren't already overserved?

The dash-8-100 will shortly be joined by 2 more within the next 3-6 months, the aircraft will all be based at YEG and are currently be kept at executive flight centres FBO on the north end of the field (hangered).A new hanger will be constructed in the coming months specifically for the 5T dash-8s,with room for all 8 being taken into consideration. One route of interest is YEG-YMM-YZF and YYC-YMM-YZF.Also on a odd note as mentioned before the Dash has been operating freight runs over a YEG-YZF-YEV route which also stops in Norman wells occasionally.First time I have seen the Dash-8 used as a freighter.

737 skeds from the east will operate to CNRL from Winnipeg,Saskatoon,Regina,Toronto, and St.johns and most are already operating, those that arent will be very shortly.

7F has also begun flights to CSK9 (Snap lake) from YEG twice per week using 732s and has ATRs running from YZF to the new diamond mine. Also the hercules has been flying to CSK9 routinely and it will soon be joined by upto 2 more C-130s that 7F is finalising a deal on...

All in all the north is going CRAZY!!!

On another note air north has also joined in on the flights to YMM as they share a close relationship with Canadian north, the carrier has added 2 weekly flights from YVR.These are charters designed to fly workers for canadian natural resources to work.

Pretty much anything that would bypass Toronto, especially out of Ottawa, First Air's hometown. Wishful thinking that 7F would ever do such a thing. Ottawa-Fredericton/Moncton/Windsor/Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay-Winnipeg spring to mind as well as Sudbury/Sault-Winnipeg.

What about Montreal?

Ahh, The Regional 1 plane that used to fly more southerly routes:

Lethbridge(YQL) - Kelowna(YLW)/ Vancouver(YVR) -Victoria(YYJ)

Red Deer(YQF) - Kelowna(YLW)/ Vancouver(YVR)-Victoria(YYJ)

Man, I wish AC hadn't killed the "direct to the coast" flights.... Even Regional 1's offer for Integra Air to take over the route didn't last....

Glad to see the Regiuona 1 colours flying again!

Interesting, I've always been interested in Air North and there charter operations. Just wondering why if the charters are for Canadian Natural Resources Limited workers they aren't flying directly to CNRLs Horizon Air Strip north of YMM? Anyone know of any othber frequant Air North Charters?
